Dolly Parton and Elton John with the Classic *Imagine*

Elton John and Country Music? Somehow this is not a combo that would make me want to tune in, no matter who he pairs up with.

I watched it...great music. Miranda Lambert's " Kerosene" makes ya get up & stomp! Faith Hill & Tim McGraw was the highlight. Keith Urban looked overwhelmed by it all. Good show!

Well, besides the fact that some no name gal was singing while in the back, some idiot with a mohawk was playing an electric guitar, and a few other things, it was a pretty good show. Why were Glenn Campbell and Alabama allowed to speak while that black guy's family was only in the audience and not called on the stage?

"Imagine"? Did you say "Imagine"? As in John Lennon's "Imagine"? Perhaps this is why I don't watch (that and the fact that I don't have a TV). How the heck is this stuff country? There is absolutely nothing Western in common circulation either. It's simply pop music; much like that of the late 70's and 80's. Sure, some of the music is nice, but to label it country is a sin. Certainly no more songs of cattle drives, roping cattle, working life, and unrequited love. Just more of the further feminization of our society. Imagine all the people roping and riding, I say, not feeling and loving.

I take it you are not a country music fan. The Elton-Parton, Paul Simon-Willie Nelson things were horrible. George Strait, Martina McBride, Allison Krauss and Union Station, Alan Jackson, Brad Paisley - about the only good things on there.

And bring back Vince Gill as emcee. Brooks and Dunn are BORING!!

I didn't watch it but was glad to hear LeeAnn Womack won some major awards. Her latest album is quite good.

I was dissappointed that Trace Adkins was not featured in any other way except as a presenter. As conservatives, we need to support this fine vocalist, performer, and sexxxy, Great American, and OUTSPOKEN CONSERVATVE.

Adkins, who has not been afraid to speak his mind as a frequent guest on Bill Maher's Politically Incorrect, says someone has to represent his side of the great debate rending the nation. That's why he performed at a party during the Republican National Convention. ''I've always been conservative,'' says Adkins, adding he is the first Republican in a long familial line of Southern Democrats. ``I knew when I was going to register to vote for the first time, for Reagan, that I was a Republican because I was conservative.''

Here's a response Trace gave during an interview about Nashville:

QUESTION: Why is Nashville, unlike the other entertainment capitals of Hollywood and New York, culturally and politically conservative?

TRACE ADKINS: Because it’s the South. I think this area of the country breeds conservatism. That’s just how the people were raised around here. Their values and sense of right and wrong are instilled at a very early age. But there are a lot of liberals in the music business, I’ll guarantee you that. I run into them everyday and most of them are very vocal and outspoken because they know I’m vocal and outspoken as a conservative—and they like to rub it in a little bit.

Go out and buy his single "Arlington"(if nothing else.) Let's show the libs in the recording business that we support our own!

Artist/Band: Adkins Trace
Lyrics for Song: Arlington
Lyrics for Album: Songs About Me
ARLINGTON

I never thought that this is where I'd settle down,
I thought I'd die an old man back in my hometown,
They gave me this plot of land, me and some other men, for a job well done,
There's a big white house sits on a hill just up the road,
The man inside he cried the day they brought me home,
They folded up a flag and told my mom and dad, we're proud of your son

Chorus:

And I'm proud to be on this peaceful piece of property,
I'm on sacred ground and I'm in the best of company,
I'm thankful for those thankful for the things I've done,
I can rest in peace, I'm one of the chosen ones, I made it to Arlington

I remember daddy brought me here when i was eight,
We searched all day to find out where my granddad lay,
And when we finally found that cross,
He said, "son this is what it cost to keep us free"
Now here I am, a thousand stones away from him,
He recognized me on the first day i came in,
And it gave me a chill when he clicked his heels, and saluted me.

(Repeat Chorus)

And every time I hear twenty-one guns,
I know they brought another hero home to us
We're thankful for those thankful for the things we've done,
We can rest in peace, 'cause we are the chosen ones,
We made it to Arlington, yea dust to dust,
Don't cry for us,we made it to Arlington.

Some of the worst lip-syncing I have ever seen! This for me made it unwatchable in spite of the gorgeous C&W babes.

The bad choices, IMO, were naming Jerks Gentley best new artist and Wretched Wilson top female vocalist.

I thought it was nice that they included some country singers/bands every now and then. Where were all the the country greats like Reba, George Jones, Clint Black, Randy Travis, Travis Tripp ... etc. Seriously, that was not a country music show last night.

I attended the CMA's when they were staged at Disney studios, and then at Universal Studios.

At disney, I walked behind the stage drop and I met the Judd's face to face. Not a big country singer fan, I politely said hello, and asked my husband who they were when we had passed them. He didn't know either. Now I know exactly who those gals are.

At Universal I went into the bar at the Sheraton, and saw Garth Brooks. and Randy Travis not too far away. I was and still am impressed with a lot of these singers

Wow.
