For whatever the reason, celebrities lead interesting lives that most of us can't even fathom (or would want to.) But how many of us have had the opportunity to meet someone famous, witness someone famous doing something outrageous or knows someone who has and would like to share that experience......here.
My only experience was when I was 19 and in Aspen for the weekend. I was waiting for my family in the lobby of the Hotel Jerome and Arnold Swartzenegger came in. He gave me the up/down look and smiled (MUCH has changed since then!) Then Maria walked in and the flirting was over. Sigh...
Let's liven things up ping!
Met Walter Keonig (Chekov from Star Trek) at Texas A&M circa 1990. Pretty nice fella, hawking a sci-fi movie he had recently completed. Got an autograph.
I met Heather Locklear at an amusement park I was working at, my coworkers and I took a picture with her and the group she was with. Yes guys, she looks as good in person as she does on tv, and at the time she was wearing a baseball cap and hardly any make up.
When I was in Grad School. I worked at a coffee shop/appliance store where I served the following people:
Antonio Banderas
Melanie Griffith
Francis Ford Coppola
Lou Reed
Elvis Costello
Chris Kattan
Holly Hunter
Sarah Jessica Parker
Matthew Broderick
Gerard Depardieu
Diana Krall
Since she was a regular shopper, Sarah Jessica Parker suggested our shop as a location for Sex and the City. As a result, I am featured on an episode during the last season, working the expresso machine in the background.
Other celebrity encounters:
Met and talked with Peter Gabriel on the 7 Train going out to the US Open
Rode next to Jaye Davidson (The Crying Game) on the 1 train. Also sat next to Wyclef Jean (the Fugees) on the 2 train.
Stood next to Al Franken at Starbucks.
Met Gene Simmons at Sam Ash music store.
Sat next to Ace Frehley at the bar at Arturo's Pizza. Also sat across from Randy Newman at the same bar.
Chatted with Louis Lasser (Mary Hartman Mary Hartman) at a Starbucks.
Sat next to Ron Jeremy in a movie theatre.
Met Vanessa Del Rio outside a Barnes and Noble.
Stood behind Jason Alexander while waiting to get into a movie.
While living in Chicago, rode in the same Red Line car as Joel Grey.
Let's see...I met James Garner when I was in my teens...he was at a golf course near my house. Met a couple memebers of the Doobie Brothers. When I was living in Palms Springs I managed a store downtown, and saw all kinds of celebrities from a distance. The strangest was Tammy Faye...and I do mean strange.
memebers=members...duh!
LOL...Ron Jeremy.
Hanging out in the locker room???
Julia Louis-Dreyfuss was sitting at the table next to mine in a restaurant in the Poconos. The guy she was sitting with was, well, kinda dumpy looking, surprisingly.
Anyway, I didn't say a word, and I was SO about to take something off her plate and eat it, but my dinner partner didn't have 50 bucks to wager me.
That's about it. My sister has a ton of brush with the stars stories. Joe Montana hit on her the day after he won the super bowl. She declined, and then promptly showed him the (back) door (Hyatt Regency Monterey). And she also used to work for Clint Eastwood at the Hog's Breath Inn in Carmel.
Oh, and my friend's husband looks JUST LIKE Nick Lachey. Dead Ringer. No word of lie. But I don't think that counts.
It was probably in the early 80's, and I had a friend that worked at the golf course he was at. He wasn't with anyone, and my friend and I just approached him in the parking lot. He was very nice. I have a picture somewhere.
Lucky girl.
Drank beer with Sonny Eliot...
