Best guess: try the user name 'root' with no password. What is the name of the distribution CD that you purchased?

pclinux from Lincd. I can get it to the graphical interface after I get past the command line page shown here :http://shots.osdir.com/slideshows/slideshow.php?release=381&slide=1. Then it comes right back to command line and askes for "localhost login:" To which I type guest and then it asks for "password" and I type guest.

The next command line is " [guest@localhost guest]$"

No matter what I type it says " -bash: guest: command not found "

I have no idea what to do from there. I have zero experience with linux and so this is frustrating.
Any idea where to go next?
