We had a dog, but he died about six years ago of old age, and we never replaced him.
It's another way of saying spaying. Queens (female cats) and bitches (female dogs) are spayed and dogs and cats (both males) are neutered.
I have a cat and two dogs, she's spayed and they both are neutered. Spaying and neutering are not only good to reduce the number of unwanted pets, but it can also eliminate or reduce the incidence of health problems, thus allowing them to live longer and healthier lives.
I know it means neuter, I just couldn't resist the joke!!
I like jokes. Actually, his cat should have been spayed. :-)
Perhap he should have been!!
Who the owner? LOL!
A man absolutely hated his wife's cat and decided to get rid of the animal one day by driving him 20 blocks from his home and leaving him at the park. As he was getting home, the cat was walking up the driveway.
The next day he decided to drive the cat 40 blocks away. He put the beast out and headed home. Driving back up his driveway, there was the cat!
The man kept taking the cat further and further and the cat would always beat him home. At last he decided to drive a few miles away, turn right, then left, past the bridge, then right again and another right until he reached what he thought was a safe distance from his home and left the cat there.
Hours later the man calls home to his wife: "Jen, is the cat there?"
"Yes," the wife answers, "why do you ask?"
Frustrated, the man answered, "Put him on the phone, I'm lost and need directions."
The cat came back, the very next day...
LOL!
LOL! Absolutely adorable babies. I have 2 kitties, only one is cute. The other one, the black cat, is insane. LOL
Only if it were a pit bull or a dog that looked like what people think a pit bull looks like. Or a Rottie or a Dobbie. Or just a black and tan dog that could be mistaken for a Rottie or a Dobbie....
Was "Nermal" the "Nermal" whose mom hung out on the Feline-CRF-Support group for a while? How many elderly cats named "Nermal" can there be?
Well, as for your feral cat problem, check with local shelters and cat rescue groups in your area to see if there are any programs for discount "fixings". Or check and see if your vet might give you a bulk discount, given the circumstances. And if you're the Nermal-mom I remember from the CRF list, you're probably a pretty good customer of your vet's, so hopefully that would help. At any rate, let the vet know that you want the bare minimum service for these cats -- the quickie exam (which is pretty much required by law before giving a rabies shot), the rabies shot, and the fixing.
Get a bunch of collars (NOT the kind that have elastic or snap-off "safety" devices, because those will stay on for about 1 day tops) and securely attach a couple of good sized bells to each one (you can get several sizes of little round jingle bells at any craft or fabric store, several to a bag, and very inexpensive -- my one bird-catching former feral kitty is now a two-tone ringer!) . Make sure they go to the vet's with the cats, and make sure the vet has instructions to put them on each cat (along with their new rabies tags) before the cat is fully recovered from anesthesia, as feral cats tend to object vigorously to being collared. This will be a big help in protecting the birds. Also, once the cats are fixed, they'll tend to get lazy and domesticated pretty fast, especially the males. Well-fed, loud-ringing, fixed cats aren't likely to do much to the bird population besides cull the weak or sick ones.
Good luck!
LOL!!
Thanks for that!!
A simple buck + tax will make any cat your friend at Dollar General. We currently have 3 cats and one that hangs out at the back door. Pounce is only $1 + tax.
