I am a fan of Limbaugh's but I think the soldiers don't need a 24/7 subscription. I think Limbaugh would've been a real mensch if he had just endorsed a standard Adopt- A - Soldier program that provided them with the normal TLC-- food, shaving kits, etc. He didn't have to get his beak wet... I would've gladly participated in a standard program, the subscription thing is a missed opportunity that risks appearing self interested. I don't care if a bonehead from Rio Linda gave him the idea.
I think it is a great idea...the soldiers, I bet, think Rush is awesome and they'll be GRATEFUL to get a subscription.
So you got mud in your boots going down IED alley do you really need a 24-7 subscription of Limbaugh talking about Harry Reid.. no you need calling cards, cookies, salty peanuts, a deck of cards and powder for your feet. This is a boneheaded, self interested campaign IMO.
I think Rush has a great idea...I'll be able to find out what soldier I'm giving a subscription to...AND IF E-MAIL RELATIONSHIPS DEVELOP, YOU WATCH AND SEE: THE SOLDIERS WILL SHOW AND TELL US ABOUT THE GOOD THINGS HAPPENING IN IRAQ!
Tom Dung-heap Harkin just stepped in it big time...bonds will be forged with the conservative base and the soldiers. Who KNOWS how much good will come from this? The goodwill alone will be immeasurable, but we also are likely to see political action in support of winning the War on Terror; it'll make the Sheehan Sycophants wet their undies.
There are a lot of people and groups gathering different "items" to send to the troops...but, what Rush has is unique...
He can send his message...and I dare say with all of the propaganda that the regular media spews...those troops probably would LOVE to here someone talk about how much they are respected and cared about..
The don't hear that on NPR...or Ed Schulz! blech
Hey, I agree totally. I am in business myself. I do everything I can to increase my bottom line.
I just don't agree with speaking out of both sides of your mouth, like Rush is apparently doing here. While pretending to be altruistic, it looks like he is scheming a way to make it for himself. It's not about the troops, except incidentally. You seem to be applauding that aspect of this. I guess you are a Rushbot.
I don't care how much he makes. I do all right. I just wonder how some people can appear so stupid... How do you spell back ache, plus oxycontin, plus maid/drug procurer?
I like commas. They separate sentences, and properly identify each portion.
Thank You. Rush is increasingly seeming removed from the people... The trip to France a while back spoke volumes. He's not in touch enough anymore. If I were advising him, I would urge him to engage in more useful activism. I think it would be cool if Rush had a contest where he gave listeners startup money for a small business so they could be wealth creaters and definitely a standard adopt a soldier program would be great. He needs to give back more to his audience... This program needs tweaking.
They get an hour of his show already. the adopt a soldier where care packages are sent is morale boosting.
So don't give...are you gonna gripe about the soldiers who sign up for the subscription, too? :)
So you don't think soldiers would be better off with care packages???? I'm sure guys who haven't gotten any care packages will be thrilled that Limbaugh got 30 odd dollars richer for their behalf.
So for technical and other reasons this program is a piss poor idea.
Amen. I think he generally does the right thing, but this idea of his smells to high heaven.
You're right to feel the way you do.. We ain't alone.
cookies that don't melt, slim jims, calling cards, powdered gatorade... the whole shebang. Not some lass ass subscription for material that is mostly free on his website.
Dude, you're wrong. People inclined to support the troops who like Limbaugh should've been encouraged by Limbaugh to put their money to better use than a 24/7 subscription.
What about calling cards, powdered gatorade, cds, dvds, books, and everything the Hell else. Most of Limbaugh's show is on the free side any way . It's a dumb program... period!
Very good points, I think Rush is experiencing what Bush is.... many people that used to swear by him still like him a great deal but they feel he's out of touch with them and need to regain lost fire.
Ok, Snerdly, we heard ya.
There's not a (male) soldier or Marine out there that wouldn't appreciate a periodic subscription to some lass ass.
Fic, looky here, 'podnuh.' If you've ever listened to any of Limbaugh's rags-to-riches DJ stories, then you'd know the LAST thing he'd be in favor of is GIVING away stuff to start people in business.
He thinks almost anybody should EARN everything, because he did it.
I'll spend my money the way I want to spend it and you can spend your money the way you want to spend it.
Don't tell me how I should spend mine - and we'll get along just fine.
