This is called a "frenzy". Dogs in a group, any kind of dog, is susceptible to this phenomenon.
People who own dangerous dogs should understand it. It is not a joke. When people hear of dogs "turning on the owner" this is usually the case. It is not uncommon for dogs in a frenzied state to attack each other as well.
No should own more than one large dog unless they fully understand what they have in their possession.
I rescue and turn around abused Dobermans. I refuse to place a Dob with an inexperienced owner. I tell the ones I do work with to always, always remember that what you have is a loaded double barreled shotgun, on four paws, with a mind of its own.
Only fools reject that advice.
