Didn't know for sure where to put this, anyone who knows the moderator please ask them to move this to where the most people can see it. We always end up with some great recipes.

Cyborg, I want to first congratulate you for leaving me utterly speechless. No doubt others will thank you for that as well.

Secondly, I am shocked...SHOCKED...that you would drag Satan's own sludge...tofu!...into this most sacrosanct thread dedicated to the what may well be the best meal of the year! For shame! FOR SHAME!   (((*insert Beetlejuice-grade screech here*)))

For the record, I will have it known here and now that I am having a full seven course meal for Thanksgiving!

...that rights...a pizza and a six-pack.   *urp*

World's Best Idiot Fudge: 1 can sweetened condensed milk, 1 package semi sweet chocolate chips. Melt them together over medium low heat until smooth. Pour in 9x9 pan and refridgerate 4 hours before cutting.

Criminy...I had to take a shot of insulin just for READING that!

Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving



'Twas the night before Thanksgiving and all through the kitchen;

I was cooking and baking and moanin' and *itchin'.

I've been here for hours, I can't stop to rest,

This place is a disaster, just look at this mess!

Tomorrow I've got thirty people to feed,

They expect all the trimmings, who cares what I need!

My feet are both blistered, I've got cramps in my legs,

The dog just knocked over a bowl full of eggs,

There's a knock at the door and the telephone's ringing;

Frosting drips on the counter as the microwave's dinging,

Two pies in the oven, dessert's almost done;

My cookbook is soiled with butter and crumbs.

I've had all I can stand, I can't take anymore;

Then in walks my husband , spilling rum on the floor.

He heaves and he wobbles, his balance unsteady

Then grins as he chuckles "The eggnog is ready!"

He looks all around and with total regret,

Say's "What's takin' so long? aren't you through in here yet?"

As quick as a flash I reach for a knife;

He loses an earlobe; I wanted his life!

He flees from the room in terror and pain,

and screams "MY GOD WOMAN, YOU'RE GOING INSANE!"

Now what was I doing, and what is that smell?

Oh, SH*T, it's the pies! They're burned all to hell!

I hate to admit when I make a mistake,

But I put them on BROIL instead of on BAKE.

What else can go wrong? Is there still more ahead?

If this is good living, I'd rather be dead.

Lord, don't get me wrong, I love holidays;

They just leave me exhausted, all shaky and dazed.

But I promise you one thing, if I live 'til next year,

You won't find me pulling my hair out in here.

I'll hire a maid, a cook, and a waiter;

And if that doesn't work, I'LL HAVE IT ALL CATERED!

This is also great if you add a cupful or so of chopped pecans.

Another variation, add pecans and 1/3 to 1/2 pkg. marshmallows. Stir the marshmallows in at the last minute to avoid melting them. It makes a good, easy Heavenly Hash.

This isn't exactly a holiday recipe, but no one complains when I make it for any occasion!

FUDGY BROWNIES

Important: DO NOT BEAT! Beating introduces air into the batter, and makes the brownies dry, not fudgy.

4 eggs
2 C. sugar
1 tsp. Salt
1 tsp. Vanilla
2/3 C. softened butter
5 Tbsp Cocoa – HEAPING
1-1/2 C. flour
2 C. chopped nuts (Pecans, walnuts, or hickory nuts taste best)

Stir eggs with spoon. Stir in sugar, salt & vanilla, then stir in butter and chocolate, and finally stir in the flour and walnuts.

Bake at 325°F for 30-35 minutes in a 9x13 pan. (Or until toothpick inserted near center comes out clean.)

Saw this recipe today on Paula Deen's show (Food Network). She made it as a side to go with ham. It got great reviews on the Food Network website.

PINEAPPLE CASSEROLE

1 cup sugar
6 Tablespoons all-purpose flour
2 cups grated sharp cheddar cheese
2 (20 ounce) cans pineapple
chunks drained & 6 Tbls pineapple juice reserved.
1 cup cracker crumbs (Ritz)
8 Tablespoons (1 stick butter), melted, plus extra for greasing pan. (Preheat oven to 350 degrees) Grease med. size casserole dish with butter

In a large bowl stir together the sugar & flour. Gradually stir in the cheese. Add the drained pineapple chunks and stir until ingredients are well combined. Pour mixture into casserole dish.

In another medium bowl, combine the cracker crumbs, melted butter and reserved pineapple juice, stirring with rubber spatula until evenly blended. Spread crumb mixture on top of pineapple mixture. Bake for 25 or 30 minutes (350 degrees) or until golden brown.
