I hate to say it, but I think your choices are to have a miserable 20 years or find Izzy a nice home in the country where he can live outside for the most part.

That is the unfortunate conclusion I am coming to. His sister, Meeps, is the most well behaved cat in the world. They snuggle together and play all the time. I really don't want to make Izzy go, my kids would be crushed - and me as well.

Yes, and preferably in an area with coyotes because you don't want to pass on those habits to other kittens.
