Tyra Banks Goes Undercover As Obese Woman

LOS ANGELES - Tyra Banks has gone undercover as a 350-pound woman. Banks wore the fat suit to experience what it's like to be obese."It seemed like the last form of open discrimination that's OK, and I decided to put on a 350-pound suit myself and live that life for a day and see what happens," the 31-year-old former supermodel told AP Radio in a recent interview. "And it was one of the most heartbreaking days of my life."

Banks said she was shocked at the reaction.

"I started walking down the street and within 10 seconds, a trio of people looked at me, snickered, looked me right in my eye and started pointing and laughing in my face," the talk-show host said. "And I had no idea it was that blatant."

The segment will air Monday on "The Tyra Banks Show."

Banks, who had a sonogram on her show in September to prove that her breasts are real, is also planning a Nov. 18 segment on pursuing "a beautiful booty."

She will reveal her own "dimpled butt" and receive endermologie treatment on the set.

Go to the "What's with the Big Story on Fox News" thread and look at the post I made. It's a good suggestion on my part.

Don't even get me started on TV commercials.

When my hubby and I watch TV, we make note of the "dumb husband" commercials. There are a lot of them and I try to remember not to buy their products (or watch their shows)but quite frankly, there are so many of them, that my shopping cart would be nearly empty.

Isn't that also the formula of every sitcom for the last thirty years? I can't stand it.

Yes, Tyra, every year or so a 15-minute-famer or talk host decides to get into a fat suit and see how they're treated. They are shocked. They weep. They learn how oppressive it is, then they go out and forget all they've "learned".

Sort of like Martin Sheen sleeping on a sewer grate to show solidarity with the homeless. Accomplishes nothing.

There are some people like me who make a point to be especially polite to people like that, they appreciate it and hopefully it makes up for some of the rudeness they encounter.

I've actually sent letters to Sheen and Streisand and Rosie, et al. about their constant "OH THE POOR FRIGGIN HOMELESS" blah blah.

I told them that the BEST way to rid the world of the homeless if for each of them to take in a few. Go downtown, find a few who really break your heart.

Then...Take them to your house, feed them, clean them up, get them some new clothes, help them find a nice job - send them back to school if necessary.

When they are 100% back on their feet - go get yourselves a couple more and start the process again.

Wearing a ribbon and whining about it - isn't helping.

I haven't heard back from any of them.

You hope it makes them a bit more sensitive to people and treat people better. I hope that's what happens when people go under cover like this.

You get used it but it SHOULD NOT HAPPEN IN THE FIRST PLACE.

Yep. But hey, she got traumatized by it, and probably ran back inside and assumed the supermodel figure we all know she has.

Like one poster said, the people who saw her, probably recognized her, and laughed that she was wearing some sort of fat suit.

I believe this experiment of hers accomplished nothing.

Sounds to me it's more like bringing attention to themselves. But I'm a bit cynical concerning "celebrities".

The same people who whine about the "fragile ecosystem" and then burn more of their private jet fuel in one month........well, you know.

Hypocrites. All of 'em.

I'd appreciate Hollyweird celebrities more, if they weren't out to try and prove to everyone what collossal bores and ignorant simps they really are.

Which is why our family pretty much boycotts sitcoms.
