So much for the Globe's/Red Sox story that a deal would be done today.

So much for the Globe's/Red Sox story that a deal would be done today. I guess a deal was done...a "done deal"...and Epstein is "done". (sorry, couldn't resist, putting on flame resistant gear)

That was from the Globe story this morning which turned out not to be true.

No the Red Sox and their minions at the Globe said they had a deal. Theo thought otherwise.

Ask Bob Kraft for some advice.
To: mainepatsfan
That's too bad if he's gone. Theo's a great GM talent.

I told one of the RedSox faithful on here that Epstein was leaving Boston for either Tampa or Philly.
Now that LA is out there I wonder if they could be in the mix as well?

I'll tell you what they SHOULDN'T do, that is, hire Paul DePodesta :)
You would end up with guys like Chan Ho Park pitching and Scott Hatteburg playing 1st base and hitting cleanup :)
To: MikeinIraq
He'll find work somewhere.

As a Yankee fan I am halfway to heaven--since I agree Theo was an excellent GM. Now we just have to keep Manny in Boston for the remainder of his three year contract. :-)

oh yeah....and he isn't going to the Yankees or the Mets so it's going to be a bigger move for him.
I could also see him going to Texas or maybe Washington....
To: mainepatsfan
Phillies? Tampa Bay?? Dodgers??? Several jobs out there right now.

The Globe/Red Sox reported the other day he wanted out of town but now I'm not so sure. They're as reliable as 60 Minutes.
To: mainepatsfan
I heard that Manny wanted out, probably from the same rumor mill.
I want him to stay and whine and undermine team morale for three years. :-)
