In a just-completed interview with former Texas Democrat gubernatorial candidate Garry Mauro and Republican consultant Ron Kaufman, Fox News host Page Hopkins stated that tomorrow's Time Magazine will report that President Bush is dissatisfied with some of his top advisers.
Specifically, there was speculation that Chief of Staff Andy Card [who played a key role in the Miers pick while Karl Rove was attending to his legal situation] could be moved out of his position and over to the Treasury Department.
the feeling is mutual, i am sure. moderation in pursuit of justice is no virtue.
I could imagine Card making an adequate Town Councilman in Swampscott. I hear they have some thorny city water-line issues to wrestle with.
Is there a line for volunteers?
It's difficult to take seriously someone whose keyboard is sticky!
Thanks for the link, which I note in turn cites Time Magazine, confirming what Fox News reported.
Not all that puzzling. G.W.B. took Delay on a high profile trip on Airforce One not too long ago. This is no different. Rough last few weeks, she withdraws and Card has taken some hits. Solution- Good PR face saving/still got your back trip on helo.
My guess is that Miers was very publicly invited onto Marine One and taken to Camp David as a face-saving gesture. I don't imagine she played any real role in the selection of her successor.
Of course I can't prove it, but surely her objectivity at this point would be questionable.
they will probably put
a name to pique the scuttlebutt
that will turn only out to be
another tease, another mystery.
Well if TIME reports it it MUST be true...
I'm sure the dear woman is acting in an administrative and technical capacity. Evidently, she is good at just that.
GMTA. See #48!
Well, she is White House Counsel so I imagine she reviews every judicial nominee. The President is a kind and compassionate man but, I doubt, he appoints the White House Counsel on this basis.
Know what you mean, but then again, I got flack a couple days ago for citing a NY Times article that reported that Rove wouldn't be indicted.
Maybe he took a glimpse thru the door where the money is printed.
Can anyone cite for me three things, in the last year, Time has got right in the political speculation department?
Well, as Harriet famously wrote, "courage is lacking in would-be leaders many times today."
The date stamp?
That would require me to have read Time in the last year ;-)
