the aluminum shaft I shot made an unusual noise when loosed, yes. high-pitched "ZEET!" sorta

and the string hummed with metallic glee

and the target point turfed 40 feet away before the first recoil vibration had cycled in the bow.

I'm serious: this Mad Bastard sucker SLINGS an arrow

The only other time I've personally heard an arrow make unusual noise was from what was referred to as a cantilevered compound bow(Any such beast? I wouldn't know.) and the arrow went "ger-ZINK!".

All I know is that this bow had compound cams and the bow had an odd shape to it unlike usual compound bows.


If the arrow made a high pitched noise, I'd say it beats the bow I saw as the "ger-ZINK" noise was lower down on the tone scale.
(Think rubber ball hitting aluminum bat sound.)

Check the arrow for unusual warpage as well...
