The Northern states appear to have the same approach as this side of the Atlantic, but further south, the horse appears to be a tool of the working man.
It used to be a tool of the working man in the northern states, too. But after the invention of tractors and automobiles, they aren't necessary anymore.
In America, especially in the West, horses are prized for lots of things; racing, hunting, show horses, polo, rodeo and breeding. And just plain riding. Two of my favorite breeds are the Tennessee Walker and the Morgan.
But nothing can beat the mustang.
