We have a restaurant where one picks up the raw ingredients, all in one bowl, and gives it to a chef to cook on a grill. The one time we went there, both of us were ill.
Do they cook the meat on a grill separately from the vegetables at your Chinese place?

I know of a place that does the bowl thing and another one that does the plate thing. Both use raw ingredients as you say.
I usually throw some cooking alcohol into the mix to avoid getting sick, but I have never had an adverse reaction.
I've got a great one by me and it's an all-you-can-eat for $5.50.
