Click on any photo to the right to view a larger image

Up for auction is THE one and only original Gene Simmons custom design Spector electric bass finished in a silver and black pyramid design used originally in the Love Gun/Alive II tours. This bass was purchased at the Kiss Butterfield's Auctioneers and Greg Manning Auctions, Inc. June 24 and 25, 2000 auction [lot 1126.] Hand-signed in person backstage by Gene (see photo for proof.)

TRULY ONE OF A KIND.

ALSO USED BY GENE IN KISS MEETS THE PHANTOM OF THE PARK, THE VIDEO 'UNHOLLY'
& THE NEW LINE CINEMA MOVIE DETROIT ROCK CITY ON STAGE DURING KISS CONCERT SCENES.

ADDITIONALLY, THIS BASS WAS SHOWN WITH GENE IN ALMOST EVERY FAMOUS PIC OR POSTER OF GENE LIVE - USED FOR GREATER PORTION OF HIS CAREER (THIS BASS WAS USED BY GENE FOR APPROX 20 YRS).

ORIGINALLY PAINTED BLACK WITH WHITE SIDES, GENE RE-PAINTED IT ALL BLACK AND ADDED THE STUDS IN THE NINETIES.

THIS WAS THE 1ST SPECTOR BASS EVER CREATED (COLLECTIBLE ON ITS OWN.)

VIDEO EXISTS OF GENE WITH THE BASS IN AN INTERVIEW DISCUSSING THIS CUSTOM HAND-CARVED BASS.

WE ARE INCLUDING TWO STRAPS WITH THIS AUCTION - THE ORIGINAL THAT ACCOMPANIED THE GUITAR FROM THE BUTTERFIELD'S AUCTION & ALSO AN ORIGINAL STRAP USED THROUGHOUT THE LOVE GUN TOUR, THE CREATURES OF THE NIGHT TOUR, THE DYANASTY TOUR, AND THE UNMASKED TOUR (Strap still shows traces of fake blood from stage show -- see photo).

This rare second strap was obtained a few years back in a separate Butterfields auction for over $4000 alone!

The case is a custom coffin-esque looking original.

Also comes with wristband (unknown) w/ bat wings and a back-stage pass (See photos.)

All photos in this auction are of Gene and this very bass for sale. This photo is from the Dynasty tour.

Here's a famous poster from '77 with Gene and This Spector bass for sale

Original Kiss inventory barcode - as found with all items that came from the Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley collection.

Smudge from case being closed immediately after Gene signed guitar - had to run on-stage seconds after he signed it.

Bonus strap added for this auction - owner paid $4000 for this at auction.

Original Butterfields tag still attached.

Gene added the face inlay - as he didn't like to advertise guitar companies (Spector logo was removed by Gene at the same time he had the guitar re-painted black).

If you look closely you can see traces of Gene's stage fake blood still on the strap.

Original strap and cordless unit that came with the guitar from Butterfields.

Gene with Bass - LOVE GUN TOUR

Gene with bass - DYNASTY TOUR

San Diego, CA - Here's Gene signing his bass for the buyer - joking with new owner that he didn't want to let it go - he contemplated taking it on-stage that night for one last time.

Spector electric bass

Never heard of the brand. In the mid 70s he used to play a Gibson Grabber. .....a very cool bass.

I've got a Spector Legend 4, great bass.

There is an error on the Auction as it reads that this is the first Spector ever made. That is a false statement.

KISS was the first rock concert I ever went to. Must have been around 1974 in Pittsburgh. It was KISS, Rush and The Heavy Metal Kids. My ears are still ringing.

Thanks. Do all of them have active electronics?

That "error" is probably driving up the price of that bass BIGTIME.

I'm pretty sure all Spectors are active electronics. There may be some from when Kramer owned Spector back in the 80's that are passive, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

I've seen KISS twice; with and without their make-up. Both concerts were great. Old KISS is great, some of their newer songs are gay.

I've seen them two times also. The second time was when they came back to Pittsburgh a year or so after the first one in 1974-ish. The second time they were with Rush and Mott The Hoople.

Maybe it's THAT concert why my ears are still ringing?

Ahhh, my taste in music has expended some over the decades, though I still like a good crankin' rock and roll song on occasion. :)

Also, when did they play without the makeup?

I saw them at Bradley Center in Milwaukee when they did the one tour without make-up.

I'm going to guesstimate here, but 1996(?). I'll have to check on the exact year.
