The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I'm sorry Alkhin. Sounds like you've really given Gizmo all the life you can. Your conscience should be clear.

I hope you and Gizmo can have peace. He's lucky to be a loved dog.

There are worse things to be a groupie for, 2J!

Glad to hear about misskitty's break through. I guess all it took was a bit of time to get comfortable with it.

Sounds the gardening is coming along well; the planter boxes sound like they are shaping up nicely. hmmm. bonemeal.

Afternoon Ruthie; looks a great time was had by all. The stable has some nice looking horses for the young 'uns and those young at heart to ride. Good Luck with the lessons.

Heh!! I told Steve it was the best party I've crashed since he and I crashed an University of Texas engineering department party at a park once.

Great BBQ and free beer! LOL!

I think so.

;-)

And my kids love them too. Matthew was sitting up in the cockpit (?) and this lady said "I wonder how many this thing seats?" and Matthew told her. The ARNG guy that was standing there nearly dropped his teeth but also verified that Matthew was correct!

Thankee, Master Bowman.

I'm not able to live rural now, butI can get as close as I can to it.

And one day, Lord willing, I'll have a nice quiet place of my own where I can relax and enjoy the peace.

We sure that you will achieve that goal, the girls will doubtless enjoy it as much as you. Room to roam with dogs and ride the ponies. Sturdy little hobbit ponies. :-)

Exactly!

Then maybe I can start learning how to plant things and join the conversations about crocus bulbs and compost. *laughing*

Well, I was really amazed because he remembered it from when we went on that tour! Gosh, that was a long time ago! He checked out a book from the library and studied up on them.

See, here he is in the Black Hawk...see the book? Steve's holding it.

This is my favorite picture. That man in the middle is the commanding officer and the man on the left is one of the pilots that had seen us waving. They both spoke to Matthew with a great deal of professionalism. I just love this picture.

You didn't crash on purpose; you truly thought it was something to which you were invited by virtue of your being in the car club! Sounds like y'all had a great time, though!

Bless your heart, Alkhin. I'll keep you in my prayers. It's a hard decision to make. Just love on him as much as possible in the time left.

Matthew looks captivated.

He's such a great kid.

And of course, so is Joshua. :-D

LOL - LSA says we'll send you lots of bulbs - cannas, iris and even daylily splits. I can probbably be persuaded to part with some roseofsharons. The compost, well, with ponies, you won't have to look far.
