The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

That happened most recently about an hour ago! But even I actually find that to be logical and efficient thinking :-)

"So why not a matched pair of rifles?"

You know, after 32 years of marriage, she has never owned a gun, but fairly recently has been saying that she might like to finally get one. Maybe a shotgun or a pistol.

OTOH, after 32 years of marriage, I know her as well as I know anyone, and I know damn well that she'll get madder at an attempt at bribery than a straightforward statement that I just suddenly feel like getting a rifle, and oh yeah, it will be a great boat gun too, and it could even kill a deer 100 yards out. That's probably the approach I'll end up taking.

Anyone else think that would work?

a myriad of concoctions, potions, and various artillery devices for delivery

Have you ever known someone to spray such an article in the air and then walk through it? I find that odd...

Also, does it make me wierd to prefer the smell of "clean" to any of your "myriad"? The entire scent industry wastes its time on me.

I'm no expert, but I'd simply ask her to come with you to pick out the rifle and buy her any decent pistol she takes a fancy to while you're there.

You both leave happy.

LOL! I've seen that, but most girls place it on their pulse points so it lasts longer.

Tell her you want it for Hannukah, you'll be happy to save her the trouble of making sure she gets the right one; and you'll be happy to buy it yourself!

I love the way this dog looks. I wish it were bigger, though. I think it would keep trepasser away just with the look in its eye. It says they are good family dogs.

That looks like my ex-MIL's dog, Jinx.

What kind is it?

Did 2J post a picture of what the fan looked like after she impacted the other girl with it, or is my mental image of a head sized hole in the grill imagined?

It's an American Indian dog. I just learned about it on another thread.
