The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Camper gone...mices gone...naybers soon to be gone... Things are looking up.

I'll bet the camper would clean up nicely. If it was winterized and set up for storage, it probably won't take that much to get it up to snuff again.

Those big campers were all over in the 70's. Kids in the camper and folks up front. You'd see'em looking out as you passed 'em on the highways. 'Spect that's frowned on these days. I always got a kick out of the 'sleeps X number' in a camper add. Everyone was real ~ cosy ~ I'll bet.

I had a camper shell on my '70 Ford PU, fixed it up so there was a couple of cabinets and bed with storage underneath. Nip (my english setter) and I cruised through CO, WY, UT, NM and finally AZ. Good ol' Truck it were. Options were automatic transmission, radio a and rear step bumper.

Oh yeah... I'd always disregard the "sleeps X" number on those things... For one, it's a pain to really need the table for a bed, for another, by the time you get people and their gear in, I wouldn't want more than two - and those two better like each other :~D

Same with tents... the tent I have is "sleeps 4" - Heh... right, lined up like hot dogs with NO gear :~D

Yeah, you always have to take that number for a tent and figure half that. :p

It's pretty cool lookin' - what's it supposed to be good at hitting? The next 400 pound Marlin?

Pirates, drug runners, or any other threat to the vessel. Also the occasional banana.

Ah - well it looks like it would definately do that job :~D

And it would probably kill the marlin too, so you can get him in the boat :~D

Evening Sam - Looks like the Scout .308, very nice indeed, and very serious. Suitable for all sorts of social occasions. That would be a fine boat gun.

It's the same as the scout, but with a 16 instead of 18" barrel. I don't know which would be best. The small size is handy on a small boat, but the original is pretty cool as well.

Here's the scout:

And a clone of the original:

It looks like it should reach out and touch the scurvy pirates before they can get close enough with their AK47s.

Be sure to invest in a Smith Industries flash suppressor. You will really need it with a shorty barrel, and the Smith is the best one going.

Uh, make that Smith Enterprises if you're doing a search. Some seriously neat stuff, most of it reserved for the government right now.
