Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

That just ain't right.
Sure hope they aren't taking that thing on the interstate or anything!
Good afternoon...making chocolate chip cookies here, because I can and it was chilly in here. And job-searching, best I can on a weekend. And I'm intending to write, but haven't actually started yet. I'm good at intentions, though.

I might have suggested slowly accelerating to 35 MPH and then slamming on the brakes. That was gonna be the next thing they tried, I bet :~D

Sheesh! Just when you think you've seen it all.
I'm sure you're glad to see them (and the eyesore trailer) go, but I'm sure the entertainment will be missed. :-D

That thing looks too big for a 1/2 ton pickup. Needs a 3/4. It's gonna be scary as hell going down the road. When I was contracting at Kelsey-Hayes (a hugh maker of car and truck wheels), I learned that they were just slapped with a "defective product" lawsuit.
Some guy bought a set in 1936 Ford car wheels at a junk yard, and put them on his 1979 Ford half-ton. He had to ream out the bolt hole pattern to get them on. Then he put on tires about six sizes too big, and added a camper designed for a 3/4-ton truck.
At 90mph on the expressway, one of the then-50-year-old wheels disintegrated, causing a catastrophic failure of everything else.
Unfortunately, the idiot survived, and was suing them for about $50 million, and hoping for an out-of-court settlement of about a tenth that. I never heard how the case was settled. Knowing Michigan juries, the guy had a very good chance of winning the whole amount.

Heh. I felt bad for Ford and Firestone too. Saw lots of the data on that. Nothing wrong with the tires. Overloading and hot weather and high speeds accounted for most of them.

Evening Hair, in this case necessity... mother... invention, etc. That camper was a mighty fine one in its day and even now appears to be emminently suitable for hunting camps or that vacation spot in the Ozarks.
The 'naturalized' camo is great touch btw.
Here's hoping the naybers will soon be completely away from your little homestead. I hear North Dakota is good place. :-)

Looks like Tweek and Pippin are 'wondering what the little doggie did to deserve such treatment'. Whatever it was, they don't plan on doing it.

Evening Hair, in this case necessity... mother... invention, etc. That camper was a mighty fine one in its day and even now appears to be emminently suitable for hunting camps or that vacation spot in the Ozarks. The thing is, with a good pressure washing to the outside, and some wiping down with Pine Sol inside, and it could be good again. It has a real interesting layout inside, and would be pretty comfortable for a weekend. It's been sitting without heat in it for three years, but it was dry inside, just a little musty... and it's been a haven for mice.
But the best part about it is that it's no longer here :~D
