The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Got the last of my storm shutters down about 3 hours ago...I'm not inclined to put 'em back up, either. :-D

I am so thankful this week is over. Though I must say it ended on a high note. I had a meeting with a colleague to discuss the direction of my current project. It was so productive! I came out of it feeling validated and excited .... and bummed that it was Friday afternoon and I'd have to wait until Monday to start on my new material. If I hadn't had such a nasty week, I'd never have sought the advice and never would have found this opportunity. Funny how life works.

I'm here.

The boys are at an over-night RA event...with STEVE. I'm home alone, sis! I splurged and ordered chinese take-out (Kung Pao Chicken and steamed dumplings) and I'm settling down to wait for Ghost Whisperer to come on.

Any other suggestions on how to enjoy my evening home alone?

hehehehe...

I think you've got the bases covered, chica!

Have some take-out, the TV all to yourself, peace and quiet and no interruptions....

Gotta love it. What a well-deserved treat. :-D

I gotta record GW for Joshua...it's one of his most favorite shows and so far, although a little unnerving at times, is neither horrifying or vulgar.

My week ended on a low note. It doesn't look like we got some samples from the beginning of this project I inherited from someone. So there's like 12 data points we're missing.

And the instrument stopped and didn't run my samples last night.

But at least I've got bourbon and egg nog

But the Boy Scout popcorn came today! I got the triple....chocolate popcorn, caramel popcorn, and cheese popcorn in a tin. The tin is big enough to fit a coconut cake in there without mooshing up the frosting. I brought the cheese one home and leaving the other two for office nibbles.

My week ended on a low note

Sorry about that. Guess we cancel each other out on balance.

ET just went off. It is the most mind numbingly stupid show ever.

It just shows that I'm asleep at the switch, as usual. I knew perfectly well something was going on down in the western Caribbean, just not paying attention.

Stopped and got 15 gallons of gas on the way home, just in case we lose elec again. OTOH, I heard Don Noe on the radio, he's not taking this very seriesly at the moment, so that's a good sign. Maybe I won't either.
