New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |

Bah! All that spam will ruin your appetite.
More than once today I've been heard to use the phrase "He needed killin' is a valid defense in many parts of the South"...
I just love a carnival :~D
I'll have a Triple Grande Moccachino and a cotton candy please...
I'll have a nap.
Conned a friend into dropping me off home, which puts me half an hour ahead of schedule, which means if I have an hour nap I will be right on target for homework-starting time.
Whoa! It generates random, mostly real-sounding names! That's perfect!
I played around a little... does "Felton Arturo Burnett" sound like an evil mastermind to you?
No. "Felton" is not a name that can scare anyone. Neither is "Burnett". Sounds French ;~D
He's a sly, businessman sort of evil. Not a Rule the World sort of evil.
Back from my second day!
Well, I've been mostly useless so far, but I'm learning a lot, and WOULD have been useful today but for bad luck.
Spent most of the day yesterday setting up my own system and making an image of it, and therefore learning all the steps they have to go through to do that, though for the most part all the images are already created. I also got the grand tour of the place, which left me so turned around that I really hope I don't hafta find my way anywhere until I've been there a bit longer. Right now, I know how to get to my cubicle, how to get to food (they have a cafeteria - $2.50 for lunch, but I haven't eaten there yet), coffee (fancy machines all over the place), ice cream dispenser machine thing (haven't had any, but it's free!), and the restrooms. The rest will come... I'm realizing I've never really worked anyplace big enough to have a true cubicle farm kinda feel. Most of the time, you could find folks by room number. Not so for this place. And then there are factory areas, too, some with cubicles in the middle that we'll be working with eventually. Eek! I guess I'll learn in time.
Today, I spent most of the day going through the whole setup process - we had a quick meeting with the user to determine if he had any unusual software or any preferences that wouldn't be covered in a normal install, took screen shots of his printers and network mappings and other settings so we could set up the new system with the same stuff, etc. And then I set up the system, including wrestling for a good long while with a program that he uses that didn't want to install - kept saying I had to uninstall the old version in order to install it, in spite of the fact that this was a brand new system that had never even HEARD of the program before. But I figured it out, copied over all his files and configuration and customized it how he wanted it.
And then...it turned out the guy had been supposed to get a laptop. He'd been approved for a work station months ago, but it turned out someone wasn't paying attention to what they were signing. So...we had the system all ready on a cart to go down and we got a call from his supervisor saying they didn't want it.
*sigh*
But it was a good learning experience. Tomorrow I can do it for real.
And tonight we have The Amazing Race and "The King and I" and good food and stufflikethat. Life is pretty good.
Hey Steve, don't you ever get on line anymore?
Power ball lottery is at $340 mill. tonight and we are in. I fail to see how we can lose!
It's said that people who suddenly come into lots of money lose their friends but what the hey, with that kind of money we can buy all new friends.
(Says graybeard, facetiously)
OT! OT, can you hear us?!
Stay away from the light! Turn away from it. Don't even LOOK at it!
If you do win, I'm definitely the sort of friend who can be bought.
Just don't say "cultural identity." :)
Actually, it was pretty funny in parts....the Coot Corps kept asking questions that put HR Lady on the spot. Things like: Upper Management is all German males...we here at the bottom level are fairly diverse. Why do they think we need diversity training? Is there some problem going on we don't know about?
I'm Sinyilew.
And I run The Silver Sword Tavern in the Mighty Shields Province. ;-)
And that showed them all they needed to see! Good on ya, chica!
Enjoy a well-deserved relaxing evening.
