Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Just slip in some flash forwards to explain that the flashbacks were just hallucinations.

I don't think so. I make the Aloe plant a city called Aloe. And instead of a person named Guido I made it a type of creature. Still need the pawnshop and the toaster. Those should not be hard but I just have not been anywhere near a kitchen or a city shopping district.

No, no, no. I'm talking about milestone dates like graduating from college, getting married, children, etc. I made references in chapter one and now several chapters later, I'm making similar references. I just don't remember if they're correct.

BTW, am I the only one ~not~ writing some form of science fiction?

I am holding the llamas in reserve incase my story gets so bad I have to end it with "and then ninja llamas from the future jumped out and killed everyone. The End"
To: Corin Stormhands
The flashforward can then establish that the person relating the story was bad at remembering dates.

In addition to our other troubles du jour, the contractor was at the house today to install the stove and microwave/hood. He's got to put in a different outlet for the stove, so there's no stove tonight. And, where he says regulations say the microwave hood has to go, the Mrs. can't reach it (which means Nana and Luke can't either).
That said, whilst it has nothing to do with events of last week, even Rasputin is depressed today.
So, there's that.
See y'all later.
To: TalonDJ
Unfortunately, the person that is bad at remembering dates is the narrator...a.k.a. "Me."
To: Corin Stormhands
See, the flashforward disguised as a footnote establishes that the story is actually a book written by one of the characters. Anything goes for word-count :D
To: Corin Stormhands
Mine's not sci-fi. It's craptastic action.

Snow in November is a "yay!" occurence. Snow in February is a "meh" occurence. Snow in May is a "we've had it already" occurence.
I am watching eagerly for the first flakes here, they've been promising us snow for days.

even Rasputin is depressed today. I had a gumbly, mumbly bummer of a day. I can't wait to get writing. Blowing up the world is going to feel mighty satisfying.

Dunno about knife limits in MO, I live in KS, myself (don't know about knife limits in KS either, so there!)
Any kind of food you want in particular? How about Nick and Jake's? It's kinda close to where I work and it has good burgers. Or if you like Italian, Cinzetti's has a nice buffet. It's a farther drive for me but do-able. We could do barbecue but it's a bit of a drive for me.
I kinda like the burger option so I won't have to spend so much of my lunch time driving. :)

Their's is also 4" but worded slightly more vaguly. KC might be more restrictive than the state law.

BTW, am I the only one ~not~ writing some form of science fiction? Mine's basically fantasy.
If that counts...

We got the supposedly ultimate ultimatum at work today, which is, essentially, that we only have about three weeks left. Hopefully less, if they can push things a bit.
So...there's that.
I still haven't figured out how to take that out on my characters.
