The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Especially because that's not a Paint. It's a pinto of some kind, but it's an Arab/Nat. Show Horse type, and not a Quarter Horse/stock horse type, which is what "Paints" are.

I thought a mustang was not even a breed, just any wild horse.

Most of these tests seem to be written by d00dz who have creative-spelling issues.

Why can't Hair fly him in? ;o)

She's too busy flying some character from Corin's story all over the place.

Actually, I kinda sorta stuck her in my story, too...

They've become a breed, or at least a registry so that people can register and track their lineage and number, but it's true that the 'Mustang' ancestry is a mix of types of horses who either escaped or were set loose as various settlers and explorers came through the American West. Some look very draft-horse, like my original horse Chico, whose parentage included a lot of the heavy horses who pulled American settlers west. Ecurbh's Cyn probably has a lot more of the Spanish influence of the earlier explorers.

I don't wanna be at work.

I had two fatal errors before 0800 this morning. Two!

Went to the code-writtin' people and they said, "Oh, I thought we fixed that bug!"

*grumble*mumble*

I liked the one that asked you if you were a blonde or brunette and the only answers were varying degrees of "yes" or "no."
