Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

My sister took Becky to see "Chicken Little" this afternoon. I'm waiting for her to be dropped off soon.
I'm glad to hear that the movie is quite tame. My sister takes my 10 year old nephew to watch horror flicks, so I'm always bit worried when she heads to the theatres with Becky. I knew what they were going to see this time, so I wasn't ~too~ worried. ;-)
I was bad about NaNo for the last couple of days, but I sat down tonight and fisnished off a chapter. Up to 5255. :-/

My woodland creatures are about to have another Council.
What creature would you like to be? I'm leaning heavily towards "squirrel".
And the beauty of it being a squirrel is that it can be OT's sorta namesake at the same time!

I'm tempted to bring the Hobbit Hole into Timberwood.
Just for the fun of it.
But it seems that Corin was the first to lead the charge. ;-)

FWIW, I put you in my story because I ~wanted~ to. Not because I ~had~ to.

Went vest shopping. Didn't find anything. My suggestion: Find a thrift-store grade vest that fits and is the proper shape. Then buy eight or quarter-yards of bright fabric, cut into strips. Use "heat-n-bond" or similar fusible webbing and just iron the strips onto your vest. If this is a 1-season prop that won't have to be laundered (much), raw edges of the colored fabric shouldn't be a problem.

That's a pretty good idea :~D

That's not a bad idea. I'll talk to the costume person tomorrow. She's probably willing to have something made for me. But you know, counting kids and youth, they're only costuming 400 people, and most people have at least two costume changes.

Tanks. I say I'm a quilter, but I'm really a big cheater.
Applique? That uses glue, right?

Custom made isn't a bad idea either. Would probably be easy to do, given it wouldn't have to be lined. (Though you can heat-n-bond a lining in there.)

Ok, so stripes. I haven't been paying much attention to the theme of this year's production (sorry), but Kaffe Fassett has the best
striped fabric available. His color ways tend to be bright, but muted tones and there might be a nice match for whatever color scheme your costume designer has come up with.
