Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

I'm half thinking of heading to a coffee shop for an hour or so, just so I'm warmed up when we get to the write-in here.
After all, it's gonna be awhile before Jen is up...not to mention she's about five stinkin' thousand words ahead of me...Trouble is, the place I'd rather like to go is Barnes and Noble, and that's a dangerous place. Also it's across the street from Best Buy, which is more dangerous still.

Starvin' Marvin from Ethiopia.... The boys call and 'adopt a child' from a Sally Struthers ad.... and they actually drop the kid off. :~D

Tam has TWO kinds of eye drops this time around. Just did those. He's glaring at me now from across the room. If looks could kill...

Ew!
Toaster doesn't enter my story until later.
And I think the badger will be a slimy sort of character named Guido, who runs a pawnshop of sorts under the castle stairs. Maybe with a sign in the window saying they'll pawn anything - watches, jewelry, wands, llamas...

Oh dear...
I admit that's rather funny in a horribly wrong and twisted and evil sort of a way.

I'm also working on my "revise or die of embarassment" checklist.

Miss Cat doesn't mind the ear goop for the hyperthyroidism, but she absolutely does not like icky flea goop in her fur. I can't let her hear me pop the vial or she'll dive under the furniture.

I usually leave the eye goop somewhere within reach of a cozy chair or the bed. If I wait until Tam is settled in my lap and purring comfortably, I can get the eye stuff in almost before he's figured it out, so long as I reach for it stealthily...
But having to put two types in makes it harder. He's DEFINITELY awake and aware when I reach for the second. Poor baby...

I figure I'll bore my audience to death so I'll never get to the embarrassment part.

Think I'll take my morning walk now. And then back to the Bad Guy point of view.

My problem, other than being a neurotic, obsessive perfectionist, is that ultimately I'll want my crappy novel to be *good*.
