Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

You blew your college trust fund in the stockmarket and made a small fortune on Home Depot in the early 90's

Your family made bazillions in the lumber industry in Mississippi. And not only that, while your great-grandparents pretended to be loyal Confederates, they cut a backroom deal to supply lumber to the Union government. That way, you lost neither your home, nor your business.
You, personally, have a HUGH trust fund, that much to her chagrin, your older sister never had control of. You were, after all, the favorite.
And maybe, just maybe, you aren't so bad at the poker tables at the Indian casinos.
How do you feel about cigars?

OK - well in that case, I can afford either aircraft, I guess, though it might be more fun to have 'borrowed' it from a friend who was not that pleased about loaning it to me on short notice, when I wouldn't even really say when I'd be back :~D
(I had no idea there was a black market in Mississippi timber)

Nice, that way you can land your Baron on the runway on the back 40 of the horse farm

So, I get to be a murderous woman eh? What is my pleasure, poisoned cheese sandwich? Sabotaged toaster? Ill-tempered badgers?
To: HairOfTheDog; TalonDJ
Well, all those details may have to wait until next year for the sequel. We're way to far along in the story for you to be the central character.
Your mission, should you decide to accept it, is to be a major irritant at the funeral.

Like who could get past them? And then there is all their invisible boxes to try and get past. Yes, a truly effective defensive system.
To: HairOfTheDog
Exactly. And no one is expecting such a weapon so how can you prepare for it?

Well I'm back from the promotion ceremony. My favorite Captain is now my favorite Major. I got all weepy. MFM is a veteran of both Bosnia and Iraq - he's first rate and it's been just a joy to work with him. His current posting is acquisition-related and I can't count the number of TDY's and meetings we've traveled to together. He backs me up, I back him. He's a credit to the Army by every measure. *sniff* That's why he's muh favorite. He's probably back to Iraq next. Just wanted y'all to know we have some damn fine officers in our Army.

Why not? They stare at'cha anyway, right?
I was singing in the shower last night and apparently poor Rosie came home before I realized it... heh... that was a little awkward.
