Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Your desire to lollygag and loiter about will perish in the heady flames of NaNoWriMo.

*shamefaced*
I won't go back again.
Only forward. From this moment on.
But just let me tweak this one small part...

OK folks, it's already 11:30 here so I'd better get to bed.
I still need to read at least one chaper of ELDEST before I fall asleep or I'll never forgive myself. :-D
Nighty night!

I can resist... I can resist... must... oh hell:
The shudder. It was familiar. That steel bending shudder as the nose of the ship dove into yet another deep wave, and came up, so slow. Water that would be hip-deep sloshed back along the deck and shot up the bulkheads like the prayerful hands of a congregation. On the bridge the lurch of each wave showed in the coffee cups, the gentle wave of the curtain around the chart table bathed in the red light of night time.
The dots on the radar told the tale. They were not going to make it.
"Dammit" said Scotch, the Quartermaster, turning to the Seaman watchstander. "Call the Captain to the bridge."

Resistance is futile...you *will* be assimilated one of these years. Why not now? ;-)
My future Dark Lord is battling a computer virus and thinking Dark Lordish thoughts about a stoopid manager. I guess I should move the plot along before it just becomes me going back over irritating past experiences.
But I'm at 2699 for the day, which is pretty good.

I made it to just over 2600 (I fergit exactly). Jr. had a rehearsal from 7-8 and I hoped to finish chapter 2. But one of the characters was out so I ended up reading her lines from the script so they could run it without stopping.
So far I have none of the "required" elements (someone should post a list somewhere). However, Evelyn may have a cheese sandwich before she goes to meet with Guido the mortician.
I'm up waaaaaay too late.

Guess I'm bringing up the rear at 117something. I think I need to learn how to write more descriptively. Guido's there and the toaster has killed the first victim of the story.
It's after 11 and I'm tired. I've put Rebecca on so now it's off to Manderlay.

Count for the first 24hours is a measley 1106 ... and I just realized what held me up today.
It's all about starting the second scene at the right place.
Excerpt and picture at my NaNo site.

No. It's the name of the mansion in Rebecca. The one the crazy housekeeper burned down at the end.
