New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red, |

Still round the corner there may wait |

Home is behind, the world ahead, |

Curses! Tricksy hobbits...
*shudder*
They'd be better off with a mullet.
So there's this 45-year-old novelty song I've just heard...
Actually that was spam...
Would that be "Tie me kangaroo down, sport? Tie me kangaroo down?"

:)
You've sussed it :)
I like that song. Ranks up there with "My boomerang won't come back."
That sounded really old, until I realized I'm almost as old as that...
But, "What do you call a boomerang that won't come back?"
A stick.
I first heard it about 20 years ago...
Dr. Demento?
Nope... it was called "Looney Tunes", but had nothing to do with the Warner Bros. cartoons.
The good Doctor was on weekly, always at some ungodly hour; I would set up my stereo to tape it (using the best in 1980s Sears technology). I've found a couple of CDs here and there...fraffly spendish.
That was a really bad movie. Just IMO, of course.
Guess I like watching it anyway 'cuz I'm just wierd like that.
And I really like the soundtrack :)
It's a little un-pc but charming as heck.
Is that the one where they guy says "How long we gotta stick around this crummy planet?"
