The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

It's great therapy, if nothing else.

Burying yourself in a world of your own for a few hours a day is a wonderful thing.

Also you can write in people that irritate you and have unpleasant things happen to them.

Or write yourself into it and give yourself swell things.

Except that the last time I attempted that, the me-like gal turned into goody two-shoes that needed killing. If she hadn't been the "I" of the story, I might have done away with her, but as it was, I couldn't, really.

Irritating.

"I" of the story meaning that she was the one telling it.

I suppose I could have written "I died then..."

Or something.

AHEM - unless you are Nano-ing and are in a comperable state of brain-fry after crunching numbers all day and mincing words all night, thou shalt not quibble over antonyms, synonyms, homophones, homographs, double entendre, onomatopoeia, noun-verb agreement, dangling participles, prepositions, and other such parts, run-ons, sentence fragments, grammar, punctuation, and most especially spelling, during the month of November.

Thank you. Carry on.

hehehe....

I'm trying to keep it pure fiction, so I don't get mad at myself later.

And I spelled it right even. (I make no claims on any of the rest of that.)

It just gets tricky then. My brother once wrote a story from the first person perspective of a fighter pilot... who was dead during the retelling and had been reincarnated as one of those old planes you see up on a pole in front of a VFW or airforce base.

Reincarnated as a plane?

Don't sign me up for that gig.
