The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Is that Two Dents? Or a Dent and a Ford?

(I guess Ford had had time to prepare and didn't go for the bathrobe look. What did he wear in the BBC-TV version? I'll have to review that DVD now...

All the kids of my current acquaintance, and two of em's mom and three of em's dad, and natch my cousin, sitting here getting to watch Herbie: Fully Loaded when I got home from work this evening.

Fun.

My roomie at the UW was a spittin' image of Tim Curry. He did a truly frightening Frankenfurter for Halloween.

Just saw him last night in Scary Movie II.

I had trouble not laughing during the theatrical showing of The Hunt For Red October lo these many moons ago (he's one of the officers on the Krazny Oktyabr).

Curry's also in the remake of McHale's Navy, as the "Second Best Terrorist" in the world. Silly movie but a pretty funny role.

As Halloween goes... my favorite costume remains:

Oh my droogs, have a horrorshow night. I'm off for a bit of the old Ludwig Van.

Really, good night.

There was me, that is Alex, and my three droogs, that is Pete, Georgie and Dim and we sat in the Korova milkbar trying to make up our rassoodocks what to do with the evening. The Korova Milk Bar sold milkplus, milk plus vellocet or synthemesc or drencrom which is what we
were drinking. This would sharpen you up and make you ready for a bit of the old ultra-violence. Our pockets were full of money so there was no need on that score, but, as they say, money isn't everything.
