Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

We don't get any trick or treaters here either.... I think it's the padlock on the gate.
I used to buy 3-4 big candy bars because friends would bring their kids by, but they haven't done that in a few years now. Watch them come this year when I don't have anything :~D

Morning!
Back to work, back to normal here.
Rebecca is so excited about trick-or-treating tonight. Something fun after all we've been through this past week!
I bought 6 big bags of candy in the hopes that we'll get lots of kids visiting us this year. :-D
Even Alyson went to day care all dressed up today. A fairy princess. It's her first day there without the cast and her teachers were SO happy about that.

Cold and sunny here. Had to scrape the car (drove, and got in way early so I could park, because I have shopping misery this afternoon)
We didn't trick or treat and I honestly never missed it. It was always an occasion for us to go out and do something fun as a family - go to a night movie, rather than a matinee, something like that.

Heh...found fleas on TheKitty last night.
I gotta rassle and treat her without getting contaminated or I'll ruin the sediment study!

My boss came to work as a witch and just made the rounds passing out chocolate "bloody fingers". She even cackled.
*sigh*

Call me a heretic, but I generally love Halloween. I've ~got~ the orange lights, the green "icicle" lights, the skeleton lights and the purple pvc bat.
But I haven't put them up this year. Just the thought of it makes me tired.
We did make a holiday decision this weekend tho. I mentioned that we needed a new tree. Jr. said, "it'll be Luke's first live tree."
I said, "Oh, I didn't mean that."
Wife said, "Why not?"
So, we decided that we're gonna wait to put up a tree until after the production. And we're gettin' a live one.

Yay! Live tree! Kill those forests, chop them down and mount them in a trophy case.
Rosie and I are talking about putting up a nice little tree. I think it'll be a great idea.

Well, actually I meant one that ~used~ to be live.
Didja see that I scored (slightly less than) half a truck load of free rock? I'm on a personal crusade to scavenge enough rock to do the stream bed without havin' to buy any.

We'll probably just do the house-plant lights too. Our major decorating is always at the beach house, and I can't see getting a tree all decorated when we won't really spend Christmas here.
Plus, living in this old mobile, I can't help think any attempt at decorating would end up looking like a Jeff Foxworthy skit.

I'll be heading home mid-ish December. Got to have plenty of time to remind the brothers that one of these days they'll be bringing a girl home and how I behave them will be influenced by how they behave now...
