The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

Here they are looking at the Spiderman LeapPad program in Joshua's bottom bunk. It's funny...Spidey is roping up a bad guy and the guy is hollering out vowels! Aaaaa!! Eeeeeeh! Uhhhhhh!

But it's light's out...so I'm gonna log off.

Night all!

Hey Sam, nice to see you. And to see that you come out as you and not Rosie on that quiz.

Hi Jen, nice to see you too. Yeah, there was a definite bias toward Rosie in the quiz, judging from the results.

Hehehe, she is the "mode" of the Hobbit Hole. I think she should be flattered, it's us outliers who are apparently strange. I mean, apparently nobody else got me...

I forget what an outlier is, but I think I like the sound of it!

Outlier: a data point which lies far away from the median value.

OK, thanks, I believe that term describes some of us very well!

Going to hit the rack, good night All.

Another good descriptive term: Standard Deviation.

I thought that might be too technical. Anyway our Deviation ain't Standard.

Heh... you'da liked it here just a bit ago... a couple of friends showed up here at da waterin' hole... sat down at the other end of the bar.

Bartendress comes over and plops down a shot glass and a half pint of guinness: "this irish car bomb is a gift from the other end of the bar..."

[snif] It was a beautiful moment, man... :-)

Hey there...got home and put all the kids in the shower/tub. They are all asleep in their own beds. Vader is downstairs in her kennel. Did you see Hair's smiley post earlier? ;-) See you in the morning...maybe we can let the kids sleep in.

That looks vaguely familiar... oh yeah, we have that same pen, and book! KarateBoy's LeapPad died (too bad it wasn't one of those times where you just replace the batteries and it's good to go) over the summer. For his birthday, grandma got him a LeapPad plus writing, which is vey cool.

It is especially cool since now KarateBoy is into the 2nd and 3rd grade books. He wants a QuantumPad, but momma (that's me) did her homework! All the QuantumPad books are compatible with his Plus Writing system.

I'm glad Joshua had a great birthday! I am taking my mother out to lunch tomorrow for her birthday (her's was toady also).

Good Morning!

Off to the family homestead today. I'm sure there's a to-do list involved.

I'm taking my cousin's old laptop with me to show pictures rom the past year (yes, we've visited each other, but she wasn't here for everything and I figure this is the easiest way of sharing the photofun). My selection of pictures fit nicely on my 256 MB thumbdrive (in fact a lot of room to spare, along with my Quicken backup).

Laters :)
