The Hobbit Hole XXV - Fare you well! Fare you well!
http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net/ ^

Posted on 10/15/2005 7:13:08 AM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Fare you well! Fare you well!

New verse:

Upon the hearth the fire is red,
Beneath the roof there is a bed;
But not yet weary are our feet,
Still round the corner we may meet
A sudden tree or standing stone
That none have seen but we alone.
Tree and flower and leaf and grass,
Let them pass! Let them pass!
Hill and water under sky,
Pass them by! Pass them by!

Still round the corner there may wait
A new road or a secret gate,
And though we pass them by today,
Tomorrow we may come this way
And take the hidden paths that run
Towards the Moon or to the Sun.
Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe,
Let them go! Let them go!
Sand and stone and pool and dell,
Fare you well! Fare you well!

Home is behind, the world ahead,
And there are many paths to tread
Through shadows to the edge of night,
Until the stars are all alight.
Then world behind and home ahead,
We’ll wander back to home and bed.
Mist and twilight, cloud and shade,
Away shall fade! Away shall fade!
Fire and lamp, and meat and bread,
And then to bed! And then to bed!

I think that is a little more than 'strain'. Heck that is half my morgage.

You're not kidding.

But when you're making millions, I guess spending any less on the woman you love would be considered an insult.

*rolls eyes*

I guess... but for that kinda money the ring better turn someone invisible. I am not sure why someone would give a woman one of those...

And for MILLIONS it would have to do something really nifty... like maybe control all other rings or something.

None can wield that kind of ring...

Sheesh. I can't imagine walking around with that much money on my hand. Heck it's probably hideous, too, some enormous set of rocks without an style at all.

Why not? I am talking about a mighty gift. It must be used.

Jen, you must speak to Talon.

He wishes to find and use a ring that will control all others.

It must be cast into the fiery chasm from whence it came.

*Shrug* So he wants to rule the world, what else is new?

*shakes head*

No one rules the ring. The ring rules the bearer.

Rosie and I just got back from the grocery store. There was a ninja on the corner, holding up a sign for a paint company. You could tell he was a ninja because he was in a ninja suit but I though the ipod armband might have been a tactical mistake.

He was dancing. It was a very clever "Look, I'm not really a ninja!" move to make. We laughed.

He was bizarre. I'm still tryin' to figure out what exactly a guy in a ninja suit wearing an iPod has to do with painting.

He was enthusiastic...gotta give him points for that, I guess.

"What does a chipmunk and mashed potatoes have to do with being a pirate?"

"Yeah! We're supposed to sing about pirate-y things!"

But was his shadow dancing? Or did it maintain a watchful, ready stance?
