Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Fare you well! Fare you well!
New verse:
|
Upon the hearth the fire is red, Beneath the roof there is a bed; But not yet weary are our feet, Still round the corner we may meet A sudden tree or standing stone That none have seen but we alone. Tree and flower and leaf and grass, Let them pass! Let them pass! Hill and water under sky, Pass them by! Pass them by! |
|
|
Still round the corner there may wait A new road or a secret gate, And though we pass them by today, Tomorrow we may come this way And take the hidden paths that run Towards the Moon or to the Sun. Apple, thorn, and nut and sloe, Let them go! Let them go! Sand and stone and pool and dell, Fare you well! Fare you well! |
|
Home is behind, the world ahead, And there are many paths to tread Through shadows to the edge of night, Until the stars are all alight. Then world behind and home ahead, Well wander back to home and bed. Mist and twilight, cloud and shade, Away shall fade! Away shall fade! Fire and lamp, and meat and bread, And then to bed! And then to bed! |

Heh. Reminds me of the guy in the [ ] office that was running bitchy emails up the chain of command that his T-1 was too slow and that he needed more bandwidth...
Then we looked into it and found that he'd shared out his hard drive on Gnutella P2P, and happened to look at his drive... to discover the entire first few seasons of South Park... and The Sopranos... and collections of movie bootlegs...
Somehow the complaints stopped.

It's not your dial-up, sis.
It won't play on my DSL either.

It doesn't say anything specific about Baptist Men, but what a wonderful, caring person he is!

Well, Disaster Relief used to be called "Baptist Men's Relief" because mostly it was chainsaws and such originally. Sometimes people still call it "Baptist Men", but it's actually Southern Baptist Disaster Relief, under the auspices of our North American Mission Board.

No. I don't know this fellow.
There was 700 people at the training I went to on October 1st. And I don't think I knew any of them. I knew *of* a few people from my church, but couldn't tell you their names and they sure didn't know me, even though we rode on the same bus to the training and back! Heh! It was like riding with a busload of strangers.
Everyone was real friendly...I just didn't know any of them. I am the only person I know that has volunteered for this in my circle of friends.

We have groups from our church going down on a very regular basis...taking chainsaws and heavy equip...feeding people and fixing things. A good friend of ours (who happens to be a forester and a pro. with his chainsaw) went and told us the story of a very old couple who stood on a table on another table and had the water up around their chest before it went back down. They just had no idea...makes me wonder how many didn't live to tell their story.

I knew I had seen the video on TV and couldn't remember if it said Baptist Disaster Relief or Baptist Men's.
This guy actually answered the call of that email I posted...remember when I posted the email requesting physicians and nurses? Since I trained for the medical team on October 1st, that's why they sent me the email.
There is no way I can go to Pakistan!
Someday maybe.

I was just wondering if your church had any people participating!
Figgered they did.
What is your church called again?

That really is wonderful work. Good, solid, in-the-trench work that needs done. Humbles me that there are so many good people that get in there and do stuff.

Chicklets are here. Just in time to be brushed of tooth, PJ'd, and soundly kissed goodnight. Now I too shall retire.
Until the morn.
