Come gather 'round suckers
Wherever you drive
And admit that the freedom
Around you has died
And accept it that soon
You'll be screwed to the wall.
If your bucks to you
Are worth savin'
Then you better start thinkin'
Or you'll rust in a stall
For the fuels they are a-changin'.Come bozos and wombats
Who know nothing of science
And stretch your mouths wide
Spewing on compliance
And don't stop too soon
For the smoke's still in spin
And there's no tellin' who
That it's maimin'.
For the losers now
Will be losers again
For the fuels they are a-changin'.
Come senators, Congressmen
Screw whom you will
Block ye all real progress
Tax all to the hills
For he who gets hurt
Will be he who bleeds gold
There's a battle outside
And it is ragin'.
It'll soon screw your transport
And empty billfolds
For the fuels they are a-changin'.Come mothers and fathers
Dare you drive home
And don't criticize
What you can't dress in chrome
Your engines and autos
Are deep in a morass
Your old car is
Rapidly agin'.
Please buy Enviro-whiner
That doesn't run on gas
For the fuels they are a-changin'.The curb it is red
The sound is "gribbet"
The slow one now
Will never delivr' it
As horsepower now
Is illegally passed
Performance is
Rapidly fadin'.
Surrender your rights
Or swing from a gibbet
For the fuels they are a-changin'.
The E*L*E*C*T*R*I*C car was an Enviro-whiner fetish serving the same baleful ends as filling priests' donation trays in hopes of post-mortem escrow. The utter physical impossibility of 1200 pounds of batteries - weighing the same charged or discharged - containing the energy available from 80 pounds of gasoline plus some 3000 pounds of air (lean burn!) was ludicrous. It was stupid beyond imagining, though not beyond the reach of American zero-goal education wherein every child is above average and left behind, especially the least able ones enjoying equal opportunity to get an A. Sizzle charging 1200 pounds of batteries daily would not pollute. An amazingly expensive and inefficient paddle inductive charger was necessary because the average driver could not be trusted with an admittedly mammoth plug. Anyway, each and all E*L*E*C*T*R*I*C cars are nothing but bad memories and evaporated massive government subsidies now.
Now we have the H*Y*D*R*O*G*E*N car! Adding to an exhaustively stupid energy source and storage we now have an intensely stupid energy generator, the NASA-expensive and -fragile fuel cell. We can imagine a housewife hooking a 5000 psi recharge line to her car. Do you know anything about high pressure fittings, dear reader? We can imagine a housewife hooking a 20 kelvin liquid hydrogen recharge line to her car. Do you know anything about deep cryogenic fittings, dear reader? Folks who routinely handle either generally wear half their body weight in protective equipment. If there is static electricity spark, KABLOOIEEEE!!! Hydrogen's lower explosive limit is 4.6 vol-% in air, one part in 22 by volume.
Remember Apollo 13? It was a fuel cell that set it up, helped along by a routine safety check that damaged its cryogenic oxygen storage heater just prior to launch. "Houston, we have a problem."
Come gather 'round suckers
Wherever you drive
And admit America
Around you has died
And accept it that soon
You'll be screwed to the wall.
If your bucks to you
Are worth savin'
Then you better start shootin'
Or you'll rust in a stall
For the fuels they are a-changin'.

To view something awesomely strange...
Doesn't seem to be workin' out.
Catchy song, but some kind of alternative fuel is a necessity.
I just heard the other day that if gas were $3 a gallon and you bought one of those hybrids, it would take you seven years to get back the extra cash that it cost you. Plus, insurance rates are higher on them because repairs are more expensive.
I wonder why he is picking on the poor housewife. How many people, of any gender, occupation, etc., know anything about high pressure/low temperature fittings.
And if it lasted seven years you would have had to replace the batteries, maybe more than once.
COL!
It should be cause for interesting times when you go to the dump to try and get rid of those batteries at a cost of $100 per pound.

Some ananologies should need no explanation.

You should try doing your own research instead of relying on what you "heard". Hybrids based on conventional cars such as the Honda Civic and Ford Escape do not cost signifcantly more to insure than their ICE-only counterparts. The addition of certain safety features such as side-curtain airbags that are standard on hybrid vehicles may even net you a discount.
If you are investing ~$3000 in a hybrid in hopes of making your money back in fuel savings, you are buying a hybrid for the wrong reason.
Why else would you buy a hybrid if not to save on gas? My standard size Saturn has side-curtain airbags as standard equipment. I also get over 30 MPG on the highway and it is not a little car like the Hibrid Honda or Ford.
