This has to be one of the most tone-deaf advertisements anyone has ever put together.

I don't know ANYONE who wouldn't PAY to see smurfs obliterated. And that includes most of the children I know who find them condescending and annoying.

Now, if they used...say...Blue or Elmo, that would be another story. But they know they don't dare.

Well the Smurfs go back many decades in Europe I think. Wasn't the villian even based upon Hitler?

Doesn't mean that Eurokids know any more about the Smurfs than in America, I just don't know.

Mickey Mouse is even older but Disney has turned their "star" into just an icon to put on merchandise. When was the last Mickey cartoon (short or feature)? There was one in France (I think) in the 1990s (too violent for America).

Adults know "Mickey Mouse" but do kids really know him as a cartoon character?
