Democrats say Yes to High Gas Prices
Vanity | 10/10/2005 14:22PM | sr4402

Democrats voted lock step in the U.S. House of Representatives to deny any new gasoline refineries, trying to keep the price of gas high. Despite the damaging effects on the refineries by hurricanes Katrina in Louisiana and Rita in Texas, democrats continue to try to hamstring refinery production as no new refineries have been built to meet increased demand in more than a decade.

Democrats continue to follow extremist environmental policies, even denying compensation for environmental takings in a recent U.S. House of Representatives vote on the Endangered Species act.

Once the American public discovers that the democrats have been behind the recent natural gas and gasoline hikes their craven prospects to return to power may be dimmed.

Yet they are first in line to accuse Bush of the high gas prices...what a bunch of hooligans.

It all boils down to 2008. They know this is hitting America's pocketbook and then they will strike when the iron is hot and America is weary of the Republicans. iT'S THE PLAN THE PLAN!

Good read. Lets recap all the players. The House does 'X' after great debate. Then the Senate takes up 'X' and after more gut wrenching debate they pass something different. Of course both of these actions are done for the good of the nation.
Then the Conference Committee gives a watered down bipartisan compromise. Wallah - we have a new law.

And please don't forget the part the EPA plays in this specific scenario of refineries. If we didn't need 50 grades of unleaded, leaded and super unleaded - things might be a bit cheaper.

And remember with the compromise in effect in the Senate the minority (44 I believe)can beat the majority when tallying voting. I guess it comes from playing too much golf.

But without the angst and the gut wrenching we could not have two political parties represent us so well. [Sarcasm all mine].

Can you say Ralph Nader? The radical environmentalists only have to say "do as we ask or you will not win the white house in 2008". The dems have no choice but do the bidding of the enviro's. If they don't march in lock step they risk having the left wing split and vote for a third party presidential candidate. Screw the American people.

Commie Dems want everything both ways.

They don't want anything to disturb their precious "environment" (no such term existed commonly until 1990).

They DO want to put on commie price-controls. Not only does it screw the big bad companies (as well as us, in the long run), it gives them a way to look like they're doing something "nice" for "us little guys".

De-regulating so we could get more refineries doesn't produce *instant* results (low gas prices), so they can keep pandering to the EnviroMentals simultaneously w/the "little guy".

Can you say Ralph Nader?

yes, and this only spells high fees to the owners of existing refineries, the enviros and the oil companies in league? Or the enviros just dumb. My guess.
