Well, we were probably at Wrigley Field at the same time. On my first visit to Chicago, I was five yrs. old when my uncle took me to a Cubs game. I saw Billy Williams hit four homers in one game! Oh, and the Cubs starting pitcher was a very young Gaylord Perry. What a game!
That's worth repeating...
Braves fans can take that idiotic and irritating tomahawk chop and choke on it.
the Tribe is in the AL (where they don't play real baseball) and Houston is in the NL. I don't understand your point.
You are right, we might have actually been at the same game...for some reason, I dont remember the games as much as I remember the fun of being out with my dad and mom and brother, getting to eat ballpark franks, and peanuts, and all the junk food that goes with being at the game...I just remembered the great time we had, more than I remembered the actual game...
My younger brother was an ardent Cubbies fan, tho he liked the White Sox as well...he would watch the Cubs on TV, and if they lost(which they did so very often), my brother would jump up, run to his room, slammed the door, and ate his dinner hiding under a blanket...he was danged mad when the Cubs lost...if the Cubs lost while we were at an actual live game, he knew better than to carry on in such a way in public...dad would have tanned his hide...
Great memories for this old gal...
Waiting right here, Houston.
Indeed!
Already!?! How did you know the "stros" would win? ;^)
St. Louis will crush you. ;-)
As Tony says, we "Just play nine innings."
Astros vs White Sox . . . that would be a first. ;^)
It'll be fun...I hope it is a good series, too...whatever happens. And above all: No Yankees. LOL.
I was there. Wearing my lucky orange shirt--the 2nd day in a row (I was also there yesterday). I am exhausted--imagine how the players feel. Incredible. There are no words for how awesome that game was.
I was also at last year's NLCS game 5. I thought it was the best game ever. I think it's just been topped.
Way to be, 'Stros! There were so many clutch players--Burke, Berkman, Ausmus, Wheeler, Clemens. Just unbelieveable.
That was when we ordered "dome foam" to cool our jets. ;^)
I have been hoping for a rematch with the Cards. Last year's NLCS was superb. I hope we can approach the level of play this time around--oh yeah, and with a better ending.
The Braves were very tough. The Jones Boys scared me to death every time they stepped up to the plate. I still don't know how we pulled it off today--but I'm sure glad we don't have to face Smoltz again. To all the Braves fans--great effort. To the Cards--I look forward to it. To the White Sox--I hope we meet you in the Fall Classic. But I don't want to get ahead of myself.
Perhaps this is why five-year-olds aren't the most reliable witnesses in court. :-) Billy Williams never hit four homers in one game, and Gaylord Perry never pitched for the Cubs.
Same here. Those images from a few years ago of Ted Turner and Hanoi Jane doing that ridiculous tomahawk chop are "seared into my brain".
I'm a Red Sox fan, but offer my sincere congratulations to the Astros... WHAT a game!
In my non-athletic brain, I can't help but associate the Braves with hanoijane.
Well, as I said, I never paid much attention to the games...just did remember Ernie Banks, and Jack Brickhouse hollering 'Hey,Hey', and turning beet red, whenever a Cub hit a home run..
