and he will likely win Manager of the Year this year for his performance with the rookies.

He's got enough talent on that team and they should have 6-7 titles in that span, if not more. He's gotta have those guys ready to play the big games. He did not cause the Braves to lose the game today, but he has a big hand in the continuing systemic failures of that team. Gotta go.

I meant to say we won our FOURTEENTH consecutive division title not eleventh.

My husband made me watch this game in the last few innings...I rarely watch much baseball, but the hubby said, "Woman, this is history in the making, take a look"...so to shut him up, I did watch the ending of the game...it was pretty exciting, I must admit...

I was born in Chicago, and lived there for the first half of my life...So you know I have got to go with the White Sox, going all the way, and winning the World Series...

Seeing the Braves meet their inevitable October destruction is so satisfying...

Braves fans can take that idiotic and irritating tomahawk chop and choke on it.

5 NL Pennants in 14 years is not too bad, I think the 5 game Division Series is an abomination and have for years. To play 162 games and then have it come down to a five game series against a Wild card team is ridiculous. One hot pitcher can kill you in a five game series. A seven game series is a much better test and allows you to play your game and have the lucky breaks even out better.

They need to make all the postseason series 7 games.

Not to say the Braves would fare any better, but it would be a better format.

LOL! My wife tried to do the same for me but fell asleep during the 15th inning. That was short lived when her husband went through the ceiling. ;^)

My father's side of the family is all from Chicago . . . they're all Cubbies fans but somehow I think they'll all be pulling for the SOX.

I agree whole-heartedly with that. But I also think you should be allowed to play the wild-card in the same division in round one also.

I think the wild card should only be used in case of a tie...in the AL you had the Red Sox, White Sox, Angels and Yankees, in the NL you had the Braves, Cards, and 2 wild card teams with a worse record than the Indians, who didn't make the playoffs.

Both I and my hubby are Chicago born and bred, and like your family, we were/are ardent Cubbies fans...I spent many a happy day at Wrigley Field(I was a kid during the Ernie Banks days)....but of course, we still cheered for the White Sox...

Now we live near Seattle Washington...since our Mariners wound up in the cellar this year, we have to cheer for our hometeams from Chicago...

Agreed. But do you use total record as the deciding factor in who #1 division winner plays, or do they automatically get the WC team?

It is, with one notable exception...Cowboys 33-Eagles 10.

Ouch...

Longhorns 45-12 over OU, Astros win, Cowboys thrash the Eagles, good 2 days for Texas fans.

The Indians are in the AL, and you can't only use WC in case of a tie. There are three division champs and there needs to be a fourth team to complete the bracket, unless you are going to give the #1 team a bye to the League Championship Series. The wild card has overall been a good addition to the September races, and I think it needs to stay.

That could work(giving the #1 team a bye) I just think it's BS that Houston made the playoffs and the Tribe didn't.

Well, we were probably at Wrigley Field at the same time. On my first visit to Chicago, I was five yrs. old when my uncle took me to a Cubs game. I saw Billy Williams hit four homers in one game! Oh, and the Cubs starting pitcher was a very young Gaylord Perry. What a game!
