But, it would really be nice to know male vs. female. Wouldn't want to get cozy with someone I'd really prefer not to, not that there's anything wrong with that!!!

I agree. Although I don't plan to cuddle up with anyone, it would be nice to know who's who and what's what. With some screen names (such as yours) it's pretty obvious. Others are not as easily determined.
