This is a horse chat thread where we share ideas, ask for input from other horsemen, and talk about our riding and horse-keeping. We have a lot of different kinds of riders and horses, and a lot to share. In the previous threads we have had a great time talking through lessons, training, horse lamenesses, illnesses and pregnancies... and always sharing pictures and stories.
I always have a link to this thread on my profile page, so if you have something to say and can't find the thread in latest posts look for it there and wake the thread up!
I also have a ping list for horse threads that are of interest, and MissTargets will now be pinging everyone most mornings. Let MissTargets and/or me know if you would like to be on the ping list. As FreeRepublic is a political site, our politics and other issues will probably blend in . There are many issues for horsemen that touch politics land use, animal rights/abuse cases that make the news . Legislation that might affect horse owners.
So... like the previous threads, this is intended as fun place to come and share stories, pictures, questions and chit-chat, unguided and unmoderated and that we come together here as friends. There are lots of ways of doing things and we all have our quirks, tricks and specialties that are neat to learn about.

New folk and occasional posters, jump right in and introduce yourselves, tell us about your horses, and post pictures if you've got them!
The march of time.... Our horses have been growing winter coat for a month. It's coming.
I for one hope we at least have a real winter this year, with snow. Later on, when there's been snow and ice on the ground for a week and I am packing water out from the house, or worse, have lost power and don't ~have~ water in the house, remind me that I said that only at your own peril ;~D
LOL...
I don't mind a little cooler tempratures, but we're suppose to have a lot of wind that is going to make it seem colder...I don't like cold wind, goes right thru you.
Becky
Thanks Beaker... this weekend, hopefully, we'll update the pics on the who's who page to include those.
Agreed on wind. It makes any weather harder to take.
I left ecurbh's horse in the stall for nearly 5 hours I think. I forgot her there. I went out around 10 am to take blankets off because it wasn't raining, and it had warmed up. I put her in the stall to take hers off and went to get the others, who I ended up unblanketing where they stood, in the paddock, and never went back to let her back out. I noticed at 3 that she wasn't with the others.
I'm like a parent that forgets her kids at the mall.
I did that one time to Rusty. I'd left him tied to the tree after a ride to cool off. About 5 hours later I went outside to leave in the truck and there he stood still saddled. Didn't hurt him, but I felt bad:)

She's such a pretty horse. She's the one that's 29yr old?
Yup. It's really hard to believe.
Well, It only went that long because she's good. If I'd have left Bay in there, he'd have called and run laps as soon as the girls went out of sight. And the pony would have kicked the gate. Apparently Cyn just stood there.
Glad she is ok. She sure looked puny in that pic. Casting is when they can't get their legs under them to get up ,right? I saw a horse like that once. He was kicking the crap out of his stall.
Yeah - if they get themselves rolled over too close to the wall, they can't get enough leverage to roll back over or get up. This pony is really flexible... I've seen her get stuck and get out of it before....
This one finally got up by himself but how do you help them if they can't?
Heh... you get five or six bystanders to grab (or tie a rope around) his legs and pull him over.
Thanks fo' the ping.
You're welcome, and welcome to the thread!
So, is Momma wearing her brace?
LOL! Funny you should ask. She told me yesterday she's bringing a walker.
Oh no she's not.
I look to see a motorized chair before then.
You know she's using them at Walmart don't you? Tell her I said I found her a handicapped horse she can ride.
