How I wasted my vote

Posted on 10/03/2005 2:04:59 PM PDT by Between the Lines

When I told others here on FreeRepublic that I would be voting for the Constitutional party candidates, I was told that I was wasting my vote if I were to vote for a third party. I was told that we conservatives needed to stick together to work on getting Republicans candidates elected, that it was our only hope to reduce federal spending, reduce the size of the federal government and to get conservative judges appointed to the supreme court.

So I listened and voted Republican.

When we had a Republican congress, senate, and President and our federal budget soared, I once again thought of voting Constitutional. But I was told that my vote would be wasted and that we need to stick together as conservatives to reduce the size of the federal government and to get conservative judges appointed to the supreme court.

So I listened and again voted Republican.

When the Republican controlled government increased the size of the federal government, again I considered voting Constitutional. But I was told by others here that the real prize was the Supreme Court. That we needed justices in the image of Scalia and Rehnquist. That we conservatives must stick together to get to this holy grail. If I did not vote Republican, my vote would be wasted and there would be no telling what kind of judges would be ruling. We must combine our efforts and keep Republicans in control, else all was lost.

And again I listened and voted Republican.

Now President Bush has had a chance to nominate two Supreme Court Judges. We have no way of telling how they will vote as they have little or no background to judge them by. These nominations are not Scalia and Rehnquist, but instead they are unknown quantities.

So I ask you Freepers, what great carrot do you have now? What great principal are we to be united under now? Immigration reform?

The Republican Party has joined the Democratic Party on big government and big spending. Now they seem to be indistinguishable as both are parties of lies.

My vote would not have been wasted by voting Constitutional, but now it has been wasted by voting Republican.

Hope you have flame proofed your nether regions, the itty bitty bush bots are going to fry you, and you will probably be zoted, but that is the feeling a lot of people are starting to have.

BTW would things have been worse if gore was elected prez?

Because otherwise Kerry would have nominated more dirtbags from the ACLU. Furthermore, a generation of military people, mostly those vets of Vietnam, have you to thank so that they do not have to look at a fake war hero and person who called them murderers for 4 years.

You wanna vote for schlubs like Peroutka, go right ahead. He opposes the war on terror, and will get you killed, should he ever be elected.

How can you tell if they are not in the mold of Scalia and Rehnquist if they are unknown quantities? I think Roberts is going to be a nightmare for liberals, not conservatives.

Geez, I guess. LOL

I'm trying to figure out why this couldn't have been written on one of about a thousand other threads. Hmmm.

Well I've only been on a few minutes, and it looks to me like there's a lot of people freaking, of course when Pat Buchanan is freaked out, that usually makes me feel like Bush has made the right decision.

Maybe we need to confiscate the crybaby seal of the Democratic Party for FR.

Does it matter, I think not, after a draft dodger was elected we found out how much the silent majority really cared about veterans.

If I am not mistaken, wasn't Rehnquist also an unknown prior to being nominated?

Point being, we do not know how these people will vote in the future. So we need to stop all this hyperventilating.

Until Dubya betrays me on the War on Terrorism, I will always stick by him.

Peace.

if the repubs had lost because you voted const. party--dems would have won. yes some repubs are rinos, maybe most; but friend, for the forseeable future, only a repub or a dem will win. think of nan and harry being tops---what a nightmare.

We have the right, as citizens of The United States, to vote however we wish without telling anyone who you plan to vote for or how you voted.

Perhaps you should exercise this right next time and vote however the heck you want.
