Dems are throwing out a great deal of negative energy.
I have observed that in groups both large and small, when this kind of thing happens, these kinds of turbulence will spin up, often over unrelated subjects.
Think of a cold virus spreading through an office, or eddies in a river downstream of where a large stone is dropped in.
I watch carefully and consider the ramifications, but I try to give equal weight to both the negative and positive. In the end I usually withhold counsel and watch my thoughts better represented by others on FreeRepublic. :)
I think if someone is poking you with a toothpick, your first response should be pity. Ignore them if you can. If you cant, walk away. You gain nothing by slapping the idiot.
The first ten years of my life were the worst. The second ten? They were the worst too. The third decade I didn't enjoy at all. After that I went into a bit of a decline.
"...says it with aplomp! "
aplomp? A typo? You must have meant a plop. That's the sound of BS.
(BTW, I know you meant aplomb, I'm just giving you a hard time.)
I stay cheerful by investing in Oil and Halliburton!

Well spoken, Sir!
Note to all the "fair-weather" Republicans/Conservatives out here:
Change, in politics and society, must be incremental, not instantaneous. At the present moment, the country is tending conservative but we will only accept as much conservatism as the public can stand. Just because republicans control the three branches of government now does not mean we have the mandate or the right to force every conservative principle down everyone else's throat RIGHT FRIGGIN' NOW. This is a time for reflection, responsibility and pragmatism.
Relax. Unbunch your panities and be patient. In the meantime, let's take the opportunity to get our house in order and prove that we're right.
- Stop the runaway spending based upon the premise that we can get away with it because we have a veto-proof majority. You cannot blame President Bush for this spending when it's the members of Congress who write the bills and appropriate the funds.
- Stop the republican practice of eating our own in an effort to sort the uber-conservatives from the sorta-kinda conservatives. Dissent in the ranks is to be allowed, but not when it comes to pis*ing contests about who is more conservative than who.
- Stop accusing the other side of hypocrisy and then excusing our own.
In order to continue we need to be doing it cleaner and better than the dumbocrats. We need to continue to show that we are the party of responsible adults. We can only continue to rule when we are confident, fair and unified.
Great essay, PD. Absolutely spot-on.
Great rant!
Thanks.
You are sooo bad! ;-)
Thanks, Dog. You nailed it.
Pukin Dog: What? Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!
TheBigB: Germans?
Tijeras_Slim: Forget it, he's rolling.
Pukin Dog: And it ain't over now. 'Cause when the going gets tough . . . the tough get going. Who's with me? Let's Go! Come on! AAAAEEEEEGGGHHHH!!
LOL
That's Hound Dog Taylor, who wanted to be remembered as "The guy who couldn't play s##t, but sure made it sound good."
If his "Walking on the Ceiling" doesn't wake you up, you're dead.
Good point. I agree with the general drift of your letter, too. I think it's one thing to discuss issues and offer our suggestions and observations. We certainly don't have to agree with Bush on everything, but maybe it would be nice to lay off the insults and the shrieking that the end of the world has come and it's time to vote for Hillary Clinton (God only knows why a Freeper would think they'd be better off with Hellary).
Frankly, though, I suspect a number of the truly hysterical on this forum are Dem plants - they may even be long-term plants who have been posting this stuff for years - but the whole intention is to erode confidence and make it easy for them to remove Bush and any other conservative they target. (Which they usually do by implying that they are not conservative "enough"...)
So, tell us, how did your vacation gig go?
