Will the race be two hours tonight? If so, will it start an hour early or run an hour late?
According to my DVR TV Guide, it starts at the normal time and runs an hour later.
And it looks like there will be at least one exciting tasks... Aerobatics! WooHoo!
Thx! I held my nose this morning and watched Matt Lauer on the Today show broadcasting from Panama. It was really interesting and well done, showing a lot of the country and the canal. How I miss the good travelogue aspects of earlier TARs! They seem too cheap to hire helicopters for scenic shots now.
I'm wondering if TAR is getting shafted by CBS on promotion and on advertising revenue so they have gone "cheap". It's twice as expensive to get those 4 person teams around the Race.
I've noticed that BP seems to be the sponsor this season, American Airlines isn't mentioned hardly at all. First place prizes are cheaper too.
Travelocity sponsors too. Last season, their prizes were munificent. This year, downscale.
I don't think that airline tickets for twice as many contestants iare a major expense. Schlepping the crews and equipment costs more. They're saving by staying close to home. But considering the huge audience they reach, TAR seems rather low-budget compared with say West Wing, with huge star salaries.
Pit stops in trailer parks? Like there wasn't anything more interesting in Alabama? I felt a cynical hand at work behind the scenes. Sabotage?
Maybe Phil and other producers are taking more profits ...like profit-taking on Wall Street. But it's stupid to stiff the viewer on a show that just reached its peak and should have a few good years left in it if it's not intentionally strangled.
For my money, the season with Myrna and Charla, the midget, was the best with trips to beautiful Buenos Aires and the Pyramids all photographed in spectacular fashion from copters. I forgot who won that one and basically never do care about that. (Unless it's Romber, LOL)
Note to Phil: It's the SCENERY, Stupid.
And where in the world are Rob and Amber now?
Go Paolos!
You are correct it seems that TAR has gone on the cheap, especially since season #7. I think it was you who remarked about how they went half way around the world and then went back.
GSN is currently running season #2 and tomorrow they will have the season #2 finale. In that one I beleive they go from New Zealand to Hawaii to Alaska to the finish in San Francisco. I've seen it before and know who wins and they had much tougher detours and roadblocks, which is missing from the later seasons.
LOL! Starting from Costa Rica. Wonder if they will come back to the US.
I have a feeling they'll return to the states tonight--I don't know that for sure, though.
They had to get rescue swimmers for Mr. Paolo.
Terrel doesn't look like he's having a Happy Fitzmas.
And those rescue swimmers weren't close either. He could've drowned by the time they got to him.
I think TO's Fitzmas just ended :)
We didn't love him when he was with the Niners. Philly just found out why. What a fool, probably a Rat too.
Darn!
I got called into work -- no TAR for me tonight -- isn't this the 2 hour finale?
They've got to move that sugar cane six miles with a tractor that can go barely over 10 mph and then search barrels for the clue.
His mouth cost him everything. What a dunce. As far as politics go, I don't think he's aware of anything other than himself :)
Wishful thinking? :)
It's two hours, but it's not the finale. This show is just so action packed, ya understand, it couldn't fit into one hour :)
I'd go with the brush too.
