In high school I had a buddy talk me into going to where the county dumped the road killed deer to harvest the antlers (he was a knife maker). I don't know how long some of them had been there, but it reeked so bad I can still remember it clearly 30 years later.

I used to know a girl who had a job picking up road killed deer for the state of Wisconsin (transportation dept.)

I love the knives made from deer antlers, and have been looking to buy a set.

Does your friend still sell them?

Here in Tennessee the state legislature passed a law a few years ago allowing people to keep roadkilled deer. I do think you are supposed to report it to the state wildlife agency though.

I don't think I'd want it unless the deer was still kicking.
