Very possibly. He might even manage to eclipe some of Trot's weaker years. Or this could be his "career year". But since he's been at roughly .310 OBP, .480 SLG ever since he made the bigs (down year in 2004), and he's already 28, there's a good chance we've seen all we're gonna see from him. Then there's the issue you mentioned: he's a 1st baseman playing RF.

I already said that wasn't even in question. Nixon is undoubtedly a better player but the reason he's paid so much more is he's been eligible for free agency. I assume Gibbons hasn't been eligible for free agency yet; perhaps this winter?
