So you looked at two players, one of whom has a .050 better career OBP *and* a .030 better career SLG and decided he's not as good a player as the one with weaker numbers since walks can be dismissed and their slugging percentages were pretty close the first five years of their careers.

Sums you up nicely there. Next you're gonna be singing the praises of Ben Grieve -- you see his numbers from '97-'02?

I just compared their first 600 or so games. Give Gibbons a few more years and he will likely be even better. I never said that I didn't like Trot, all I said was that you get more from Gibbons dollar for dollar. I see Trot Nixon at the plate working the counts for walks instead of driving the ball. I see him taking too many check swing 3rd strikes. He has line drive power and should be using more of it.
