3000-year-old settlement found in Switzerland

A settlement believed to be nearly 3000 years old has been discovered near Roman tombs in northern Switzerland, archeologists said. The hamlet near Frick, in Argau district, dated from about 900 BCE, the district's archeological department said. Excavations revealed stone foundations for the Celtic tribespeople's wooden dwellings, ceramics, animal bones and charred grain. Archeologists also found Roman tombs nearby dating from about 100 AD which contained glass containers, bronze ornaments, ceramics and other objects.

Scientists also believe that Helen Thomas had a summer home there when the settlement was starting out.

The discovery of a carved obsidian spear point, believed to be 11,000 years old, was found last year just west of the Idaho-Montana border in the Beaverhead Mountains.

The LDS genealogical library has ancestory lines back to Adam and Eve. A quick check should tell us the carver's name.

The find included what Archaeologists believe is the world's oldest fondue set, complete with long bone-handled forks. Further analysis is needed to determine whether it was used for cheese or chocolate, said the scientists.

Short answer regarding this particular issue:

The reference to "BCE" rather than "BC" means that 1)the author accepts the birth of Christ as an important dividing line in the tracking of time,and 2)he does not accept the importance of Christ Himself and,thus,refuses to use the standard reference "Before Christ".

This is being done more and more frequently by western "progressives" who are aghast at the fact that anyone would utter the word "Christ" under any circumstances.
