We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!!
Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!
CAT V HURRICANE RITA ADVISORY PACKAGE #19

Discussion:
[NOTE: This analysis is based primarily on data from the Tropical Prediction Center. As my home office is still not set up, independent track and guidance analysis is not possible.]
RITA has likely peaked in intensity. That is the good news.
The bad news is the peak is at 175 MPH, and the storm has now taken a decided turn to the right. NHC advises the track above is to the left (West) of the guidance ensemble, and that Sabine Pass is the more likely target, as opposed to Galveston.
The model runs are on the following graphic:

New Orleans is likely to receive between 3 and 5 inches of rain.
The eastward shift in track guidance is resulting in RITA staying over the Loop Current longer than previously expected. This will keep the storm at its current intensity for the balance of the day.
Further strengthening is unlikely as an eyewall replacement cycle is underway--this phenomenon generally locks a hurricane at a specific intensity, if it doesn't actually weaken, until the process is complete.
RITA is expected to move off the Loop Current prior to landfall.
CURRENT FORECAST ESTIMATES PLACE THE WIND SPEED OF RITA AT LANDFALL AT 150 MPH--THIS IS JUST SHY OF CATEGORY V, BUT STILL STRONGER THAN KATRINA.
The cyclone's central pressure is 897 MB or 26.49" Hg. This makes RITA the third most intense hurricane in history. The diameter of hurricane force winds is 140 miles, while tropical storm winds have a diameter of 370 miles.
RITA is currently about 515 miles SE of Galveston and 615 miles ESE of Corpus Christi.
A HP center over western TX will likely continue steering RITA to the right even after landfall, keeping the system locked in eastern Texas and western Louisiana.
The current strike probabilities are summarized on the graphic that follows:

Now for this thought...
FULLY 20 PERCENT OF THE UNITED STATES GASOLINE REFINING CAPACITY LIES IN THE PATH OF RITA
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.
Will do.........but you can post to him also on that thread. He really does read our posts during the commercials and replies to them.
Just might give it a try.
Hey, I don't want you all to think I am a monster when it comes to the guest we have in our home, far from it. I know how they must feel having lost everything, their homes, their jobs, a couple of automobiles. I just rant to be ranting, make jokes about it just to be joking around. Please remember, I am knocking on the 70 door and am set in my ways> I never let them see me if I am kinda upset, I am just thankful we are not in their shoes.
If they saw the destruction we had with our hurricane I can assure you they left.
It took me a month to recuperate after all my kids and grandkids were here for a week over last Christmas.......and I love all of them dearly.
You are not cut out to be a monster, however, sometimes if an inch is given...others take a mile...or 2 or 3.
I know.
I just see the toll it is taking on my D and that I do not like. SIL is home from La where he is doing adjusting and he is going to have a talk with them today.
Good news that your SIL is going to speak to HIS relatives about helping out. Your daughter, who must have the loving heart and the stamina of a saint, is long over-due for their consideration of the toll it's taking on her.
AMEN!
It's here we go again time --- oh Toby. I am just numb thinking about it all.
Are you propping that wrist???
Just type "y" for confirmation.
;o)
Oh brother --- I just "knew" T would be run ragged. My prayers for her and y'all. She's such a GOOD person and I love her.
Oh, onyx. I hope you don't regret moving to the South. It's not like this all the time. Thinking of you and hoping you have no damage to your new house and any power failures. Have you gotten your Black&Decker weather station yet?
How are you today? Did the doctors give you any indication as to how long it will be before you have full use of your wrist? Like LBKQ posted, just type y or no.
We will NEVER regret our move. This is HOME. We're getting :tougher: ---lol --- my Black & Decker power station willl be delivered TUESDAY...LOL. Great timing, huh?
I might check walmart today to see if they have one --- which department, I don't know? I looked yesterday, but at that point I could barely walk, so I left before finding it. Either age is catching up with me, or my knee that went thru the dashboard 30 years ago is acting up. I sound AWFUL complaining. I'm sorry, but looking at the weather reports have me down and out.
y

using only left
want to heel fast
doing exactly as i was told
want no complications
She is doing just fine, stressed but fine. I laughed the other day, she went to her clinic for a checkup and they had a new doctor. She asked for something to help her slow down, the doctor thought she was doctor shopping and one of the other doctors walked by, the doc doing the exam saw him talking to her, etc., and got the message. That doc had recommended that she go for counseling so, need I tell you how I ragged her?
Aw, sweet you... recoving from surgery. No need to reply to me, just know you're in my thoughts and prayers.
