Good Monday morning, all you FReeper baseball fanatics....Two weeks left in the season, and just about everything is wide open...so let's begin...
I may, not sure yet. If I have the time, I'll listen... thanks. (Hope Fwank calls in!)
You can start one if you so choose...
We have the Yankees exactly where we want them...now, when they lose..Steinbrenner will be really, REALLY pissed...there is a grand cosmic scheme at work here folks...
I did the math in my head and screwed up the decimal point, but, yes, he had an 81.00 ERA last night-- and allowed two inherited runners to score.
Luh-luh-luh-Larry...
The Big Show did a clip set of him that was hilarious the other day.
Braves play at Philly....Hudson v. Lieber...Phils are HOT, trail the Braves by 5...if they win..it's cut to 4, and the Braves will start to sweat..Pgils lose, lead goes back to 6..and the division is just about Atlanta's.. What makes the two games above even MORE significant, is that if Phils and Marlins win...the Braves have SIX left with the Marlins....IOW, the NL EAST may well come down tot he final weekend, and you have a possible scenario where the Braves would not even make the playoffs.
Let's leave the AL alone for a second...two superb games in the NL EAST tonight...both will decide the season for one or two of the teams..

Mets at Marlins tonight. ..Pedro v. Dontrelle...what a pitcing matchup..This is a MUST gam for Willis and the Fish..having lost 4 straight..if they lose tonight, they are out of the WC..this is the type of game that potential Cy Young winners are supposed to win for their team..

I for one wouldn't want to face the Pfish in a 3 game series. They can throw up some crooked numbers. Braves, Beware.
If the Braves don't make it to post season, will they revert to the old days where each fan gets their own individual beer/soda/hotdog vendor?
If the Pfish make post season and win the WC, will the Pfish owner follow tradition and sell off any and all of their good players?
These questions need answers.
You should go! Before you know it the baseball season will be over. Catch as many games as you can.
....the real problem I have is that it's hard to go to the game and NOT enjoy a few brewskis...but if I drive, I can't imbibe..it's about over an hour drive home for me..or, I have to take the subway into Grand Central, then switch to Metro North..the couch potato in me is leaning towards staying home....
You gotta go.
Even though the Cards are now only playing for home field, I have tickets to the Sat. Oct 1st game (next to last at Bush, couldn't score the last game) and possibly to the two remaining with the Stros.
My ladyfriend and I will get a hotel room in downtown STL cause even though its a day game and I am only 20 miles south, I will imbibe and don't wanna take any chances.
Why is Bob Howry not your closer?
You have convinced me...that, and the fact that the weather is beautiful, and it will my LAST chance.. ( YIPPEE) to see the wrong Matsui live in a Mets uniform...( the Yankees got Godzilla..we got Kaz..which rhymes with "gas"..which we took on that deal)...gonna take the train out, have an early dinner at Michael Jordan's steak place in Grand Central.. and back home..hope the game lives up to the hype..Will post an after-action report upon returning..
He's not as consistent as Wickman. It was Howry's meltdown that blew Tuesday's game.
Da Braves are my NL team, when I pay attention. They're New England transplants to the South, like me.
Of course the Sox are within 3.5 games of the best record in the AL, so I'm not about to give up on them quite yet, shall we say.
The boyfriend hasn't given up on the Mets yet, they've played well the last couple of nights.
The problem ain't Metro North...it's the subway from Shea into midtown..especially late at night...PSST..John Rocker was correct....(g)
What a waste....and what an a$$H*le!!!!!
Report: Foulke shut down for season
By Boston.com Staff | September 22, 2005
The Red Sox have decided to shut down reliever Keith Foulke for the season, according to Boston sports radio station WEEI 850 AM. That likely means last years playoff hero wont contribute if the team reaches the postseason again.
Foulke, who had knee surgery in July and never regained his form of 2004, has had a terrible season. He has a 5.91 ERA and recently told the radio station he was looking forward to the offseason so he could be out of the Boston spotlight.
